Sunblock Cancer Correlations
Benzophenone - sunscreen
https://oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65/chemicals/benzophenone (Known as a cancer causing agent on the top 65 list in california.)
http://monographs.iarc.fr/ENG/Monographs/vol101/mono101-007.pdf (Shows the carcinogenicity of the ingredient in experimental animals, no human subjects were available for testing - wonder why??)
http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0060567#s3 (This study showed that breas cancer cells when exposed to this chemical caused augmentation!! It literally made the cancer cells grow!!)
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1936973/ (This study showed an increased case of renal cancer in male rats and an increase in leukemia and nephropathy. This study is pretty significant, supporting the major carcinogenesis of this chemical.)
https://academic.oup.com/endo/article/148/6/2835/2502083 (This article shows that that this chmical can inhibit the Thyroid peroxidase and can thus inhibit the thyroid hormone pathway. It's even more pronounced in cases deficient in Iodide. This was in rats and in vitro human cells.)
4 MBC - sunscreen
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29658634 (This study showed a variety of chemicals in the breas tissue of women undergoing Mastectomy. Out of the seven women who had 4-MBC concentrations present at the breas site, six of them actually it at the tumor site.)
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1240241/ (This study showed with dermal exposure to hairless rats uterine weight was increased dose dependently.)
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26965011 (This study correlated these UV ultraviolet Filters to a greater indication of Neuroblastoma and have some gonadal and thyroid hormone influencing effects.)
Avobenzone - sunscreen
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10232823 (This study showed that there was free radical production when this chemical was degraded in the sun.)
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29710614 (This study showed that the use of this and a few other UVA skincare filters caused an increase in the production of inflammatory cytokines (tumor necrosis factor- Alpha and interleukin-6) melanin even mentioned that the signaling pathways were increased anywhere from 2-10 fold.)
Homosalate - sunscreen
http://www.iarc.fr/en/publications/pdfs-online/prev/handbook5/Handbook5_Sunscreens-2.pdf (This handbook of cancer prevention on page 21 middle column lists the in vivo effects of this chemical and the fact that it does have mutagenesis effects. They concluded that since it was just during the use of sunscreen or sun protection and just in vivo then it should be safe to use.)
OctoCrylene - sunscreen
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17015167 (This study showed that this and a few other UV filters increased ROS (reactive oxygen species) production on the skin. After the 60 minute mark the amount of ROS on the skin exceeded that in the control group.)
http://www.faculty.ucr.edu/~christob/Sunscreen_enhancement.pdf (This study shows the accumulation of free radicals on the when it is exposed to these chemicals.)
https://www.thedermreview.com/octocrylene/ (This article from the dermatology review states the paradox with this chemical causing free radical damage on the skin even though it is meant to reduce the amount of free radicals produced saying that this is a minimal side effect.)
Octinoxate - chemical sunscreen
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15560736 (This study showed that the presence of the free radicals produced with this chemical as well as avobenzone persisted even after the exposure to the chemical had discontinued.)
4 MBC -
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22612478 (This study also included other chemicals stating that there are negative effects induced by these chemicals in animals which include reproductive/developmental toxicity and disruption of hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid axis.)
I juice 10 pounds of organic carrots every week, pour it into 6 bell jars, put one in the fridge and freeze the other 5 to be defrosted as needed. It’s super rich in vitamin A, anti- oxidants, and beta carotene. Also contains vitamins C D E and K. The beta carotene and vitamin A help to protect the skin from the UV rays naturally, without blocking the vitamin B derived from the sun rays.
btw if you eat tomatoes they contain lycopene which is the best source of anti aging and helps against sun damages on our skin.
In addition, if you love tomatoe sauce or processed tomatoe products it's better for you because it contain processed lycopene that is being absorbed much better by our body.
You can use non toxic mineral sunscreens with zinc oxide they work just as good. In my experience the biggest threat with Sun is premature aging of the skin the whole cancer scare is overblown but it seems without a doubt Sun is the primary ager of skin especially if your fair skinned
+Christopher Walker I agree you dont have to completely shun Sun as it does have health benefits. I use a light box in the morning to reset my circadian and I take oral vitamin d. You can also do infra red light therapy if you don't get a lot of Sun or choose to avoid Sun bathing, there are alternatives .
we been sold a bucket of lies about sunscreen!
its harming us by blocking vitamin D from getting into our bodies. Vitamin D strengthens the immune system.
cant you see what their doing? bombarding us with flouride, then talking us all into using sunscreen to block vitamin D, the biggest helper in protecting our bodies. then they tricked us into thinking EGGS were bad for us! (too much cholesterol , they lied). and egg yolks has one of the best sources of vit. D. if you think all that wasnt planned your a fool. notice MORE people started to get cancer in the past 30 years, since we started USING sunscreen.
throw the sun lotion out!!!
I don't say that I recommend sunscreens, especially when they aren't necessary, but I think that your research is a bit inaccurate, not in a sense of facts but in a sense of not taking into account factors like doses and the other ingredients in the same sunscreen, because (same with medecines) there's a sweet spot where the dose won't harm your body and at the same time can be effective, and saying that a chemical compound is carcinogenic isn't fair if you don't take into account the doze introduced, and sometimes some other chemicals are included to nullify the negative effects.
And for the mutagenic compound, I checked your source, and it says that some esters can mutate the DNA, and it is proved in vitro and probably the same effect will be seen in vivo, BUT since the molecule will only interact with stratum corneum which is the most superficial layer of the skin, only this cells will take the damage, and this cells are being replaced anyway so practically the compound does not harm the body at all (the effect would be bad if the compound interact with germinal cells for example, because the mutations will potentially carry on to your kid and the compound will be teratogenic, but it's not the case) so yeah, it's not just common sense, that compound isn't harmful.
But I'd say that you should avoid using a sunscreen if it's not necessary, and each person is different because some has a sensitive skin and you shouldn't scare them off like that for some low risk product and leave them at a far worse shape because they were afraid from practically nothing and now their skin is irritated or whatever.
I'm glad I stuck with my hats, flannel shirts, and blue jeans all these years. You look at the animal kingdom, and most animals have great protection from the sun. (fur, feathers, or a protective exoskeleton.) And the ones that don't will purposely try to protect their skin. Pigs will stay in mud, Hippos will spend most of their lives in the murky water, even elephants will use their trunk to shoot mud onto their backs in hopes of getting some kind of protection from the relentless african sun. We're the only species that deliberately goes out to get fried in hopes of getting "a tan" (which is actually a sure sign of damage.) The whole "I wanna get tan" thing never made sense to me.
Chris having lived in the Middle East and having had sufficient sun exposure and pretty good food that was natural traditional “non American fast food” it’s amazing that after moving to North America my family development severe allergies to various foods, dust, and fumes/scents. Not to mention yoyo weight gain loss. Don’t know if it’s the damn water, air, food, or all the above. But elder relatives lived to 90-100 with few ailments and NO ONE ever had an “allergy” let alone was over weight or had high blood pressure or diabetes. All these ailments are spreading like wild fire across Asia now though. Including these imported bizarre allergies. Never used sun block and I know ppl exposed to sun for decades and they actually look good (see Indonesian villagers) indigenous ppls living in pacific islands and Mediterranean counties. They’ll kick you if u offer to lather these poisons on them.
people won't pursue this because their hair will get greasy faster for a short time proceeding the choice to stop using such chemicals on the scalp.
And, that's just to inconvient for people because they fear what people could think about them if they thought their hair looked a little greasy during the transition period .
however hot water cold water can both be used to significantly if not completley take the extra grease away
Haven't used sunscreen since 2003. And the reason all these chemicals are knowingly allowed to remain in the market in the form of pharmaceuticals, sunscreens, food, Dental remedies such as mercury fillings and toothpaste, autism-inducing vaccinations and beverages is because jews run the companies. To find a non-jew heading an organization in order to dismiss that is like saying Trump controlls his cabinet(all jews)
This is GOLD. I appreciate all that you do brother. Recently been realizing how little we actually take care of ourselves and how everything we consume or put on our skin affects us so much more than we could imagine
Hey, I don't use soap on my skin ever. I go in the Australian sun shirtless - all seasons - regularly , wash in plain water or in the ocean and never use sunblocks, skin moisturizers or pharmaceuticals.. and I never ever burn.
What about the link between sunglasses and sunburn? Supposedly the UV receptors in the eyes are given a false reading when sunglasses are worn, tricking the body into thinking that the light is much weaker than it actually is, and then melanin production is lowered resulting in more burning. I only wear sunglasses when I absolutely have to when driving.
Thanks for exposing how DAMAGING sunscreen can be. When I found out about this a LONG time ago, I stopped using it and actually started to EMBRACE the sun and I am careful now about tanning little-by-little so as not to overexpose myself to the sun and at the same time, get vitamin D.
I am so confused now because I used to love getting a beautiful tan as a latin girl I am. I recently started researching about skin care since I'm turning 50 soon and found out that getting exposed to sun rays is the worst I did for my skin. I'm now afraid even getting near a window since apparently the UVA rays can penetrate your skin through it and cause you skin cancer.
Love your videos and your investigative studies into those chemicals. I have rarely used sunscreen, when I was 10 years old I started laying in the sun with just putting baby oil on. I am going to be 55 at the end of the month and my skin is pretty damn good, people are always surprised when I tell them my age they think I'm 10 to 15 years younger. Stay away from all those chemicals!
Yes, people enjoy their suffering. They enjoy being poisoned. It is their mission in this life. They all know how to read ingredients but still put on the cream. We have also been infected with that and must work very hard to clean out that reality from us. Instead of using all those studies here is a better rule: all names that are hard to pronounce(modern) are dangerous to your health....btw. you will be targeted by the dark magicians for changing the reality too much to the positive. Common sense thinking is not enough protection from that.
Im going on holiday in one week and iv bought two bottles of sunscreen. Now i wont be using the stuff, but what can i use? coconut oil or something? need to put something on my arm as i have a freshly healed tattoo.
Wow, what an excellent example of the lack of thorough review and understanding of the studies, context, and data. One cannot simply read the abstracts of studies found on Google and come to definitive conclusions. That's not a reasonable and rational dissemination of the data. There is this thing in the scientific and academic community call "Peer Review". This validates studies by qualified scientific and academic peers. You do not qualify any of the sited studies as to the validity of the data. To come to a conclusion that sunscreen is the cause of cancer (based on the scanning of select study abstracts) is like trying to get a university education by only reading the Cliff Notes for every class. This video demonstrates the arrogance of ignorance. The presenter clearly has an adgenda and has searched the internet for supporting data. This is not the scientific method, and even a freshman at Duke would know that. If you want to prove a theory, reading a few paragraphs from work that others have done is not enough information to make any conclusions.
Jownza no, the guy is right, he is clearly not understanding the studies and the purpose of those studies as well as the differences between the studies' conditions and the use of those compounds in a sunscreen product.
I guess you weren’t paying attention when he qualified his remarks. He stated that he doesn’t think sunscreen is the cause of skin cancer. He was keeping the scope of his presentation to chemical exposure to known carcinogens commonly found in sunscreen. That’s it, that’s all. Nobody was suggesting a Youtube presentation was a scientific journal.
Do your own fact-checking, and report your findings here (if you like). The more, the merrier! I’ll let you in on an open secret, though:
We’re biased. Against most of the regulatory bodies of government like the FDA, for instance. Not because we’re anti-scientific, but because junk science... the very kind you’re railing against (flawed methodologies, fudged numbers, small samples, poorly controlled)... that’s the stuff regulations are built upon.
That’s why genetically modified organisms are deemed “not substantially different” from things that humans have eaten for millennia... what rigorous standards were employed to make that determination?

I was reading up lately on getting a tan and seems they all say a tan is an indicator of UV damage from the sun and that your skin increases production of melanin or something which makes you browner to take less damage, so having a tan is bad and the sun is bad and we should all be hermits.
Transmit Coordinates yes I agree everyone’s skin is different and some are less affected by sun damage. Yet in saying that some of the healthiest and most vital people I have seen are surfers. A great example is much loved Australian surfer Mark Ochillupo, he is into his 50’s and looks super healthy. If you want to check him out he has a podcast called Occ cast. Worth checking out because he is such a character relaxed and laconic. One of Australia’s favourite sons.
I am nearly fifty and have been surfing since I was thirteen, I have olive skin so a permanent tan. I look way younger than most people my age often passing for someone in their late thirties. So much for tanned skin being un healthy.
Iv always had clean clear skin, the only thing I can say is the dark circles under my eyes, not the worst but noticeable at times, as for the sun and sun cream why not just put a long sleeve shirt and a cap on ye head if it concerns someone that much, there seems to be a lot of crap pushed out there that do the opposite to what its meant to do in the name of health.
the US bans a lot of carcinogens - thought admittedly, sometimes a bit too slowly in the interests of corporations (as with leaded paint). If you are concerned about carcinogens, wear zinc (a natural mineral) based sunscreens. The sun leads to cancer so the sun is a carinogen too.
Thanks this was an excellent study. I heard about this 2 years ago. People need to wake up and understand that these little bastards are trying to kill us with the food the water and the air we breathe
Since the ancient days how many thousands of people in middle east die due to skin cancer? ...nope didn't happen how about native american ? aztec sun worshippers..nope never happened..did they have commercial sunscreen..Lol..nope
iaagp its a natural SPF of around 4-6 so it would absolutely be for someone looking for some colour, however mixed with raspberry seed oil ( SPF 25-30 ) it will protect burning. Hope that helped brother.
The government is involved in purposefully poisoning the water (fluoride, chlorine, etc), the food supply (GMO, pesticides, chemicals, heavy metals, etc), the air (chemtrails) and the medicines (toxic vaccinations, chemotherapy, antibiotics, etc). People better wake the fuck up.
I wised up to this recently after reading the book "estrogeneration" (highly recommend).
Switched to a more natural sunscreen free of all the ingredients listed here. Costs a little more, but what's going to cost more in the long run- a little extra for a bottle of sunscreen or medical costs from cancer/ a whole host of other health problems that EDCs cause?
What do you think about Melanotan 2? I'm naturally very pale and I've been using it for a few years. It basically makes it impossible for me to burn. The only two side effects are a nice dark tan and the occasional sleep boner.
I'm English (mad dogs and (some)English men go out in the mid day sun).
I go out in the sun in the early morning and later in the afternoon, until I get a tan.
When the sun is low there is more atmosphere between you and the sun.
When the sun is directly above you there is less atmosphere between you and the sun.
Carrot juice sounds like a good idea. I think I'll try that too. Great vid thanks.
Whoa! Definitely something to ponder. If that were the case everyone on my Mom's side (North Carolina) and my Dad's (Barbados) should've been gone. My Mother never used the stuff, both sides spent massive amounts of time in the scorching hot Sun. My Mom's face/skin is like a 'Baby's Bottom':). Ty for so blatantly exposing these myths. I also admire that you provide 'F A C T S' w/your research.:)
As always.... a walk towards the truth , you are the only person on you tube exposing the chicanery . i recommend my family and friends YOUR CHANNEL, coz its better than any book or website, enough for a healthy life, thank you s chris !!! sir can you please shed some light on sugar and tooth decay....? coz that too seems to be a myth... thank you again.....
As a youth with fair skin, I burnt regularly.
Became vegetarian at 21 and never burnt again and rarely used sunscrern (usually only when pressured by others)
Even when vacationing in tropical locations.
I’m now 50 and this makes a lot of sense to me.
Now Chris you have me thinking. Sunscreen is applied whenever your in the sun but what about cologne and aftershave that you put on every morning before work or going to events. Are there any chemicals or additives in those fluids considered bad for the body?
Erectile Dysfunction, or ED, is a condition of a male’s penis that prevents it from getting an erection from sexual intercourse. However, many male patients get this condition from many pre existing health problems. The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, or the NCCAM, released that ED affects nearly 30 million males in the United States alone. In most patients, certain drugs can single handedly treat the condition. Below, is a list of different antibiotics used to treat ED and what side effects you may get, as well as what other treatments your doctor might prescribe you. Comprehensive List of Erectile Dysfunction Drugs Viagra, Cialis, Levitra
