Crossing the border from USA into Canada on foot across Rainbow Bridge.
To get to Canada from the USA, cross Rainbow Bridge from Niagara Falls, New York USA into Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada. To leave the United States of America, walk through a self locking metal turnstile gate without needing to show any id at this point, half way across the Rainbow Bridge there is a bronze plaque on the bridge fence indicating the United States / Canada International Boundary Line, this area is also notated with the Canadian flag flying next to the USA flag. To enter Canada after crossing the International Boundary Line you must show your passport to customs agents before entering the country of Canada, there is no fee for this process but when you want to cross the same bridge back into the USA there is a .50 cent fee.
Walking across Rainbow Bridge takes under10 minutes, the time to show your passport to the agent at the Canadian border and the agents at the USA when returning to The United States of America cannot be determined as the time varies based on how many border agents or people trying to enter the country at any given time.
There are excellent views of Niagara Falls from both the USA and Canada, but they are both very different, the view of the falls from Canada shows a more natural less built up look, where as the view of Niagara Falls from the USA shows more of a city built up look.

While this posting is several years old, I live in a Canada/United States border town and what I viewed is a beautiful sight created by the hand of God and nature. Advance to the current year (2018) and the lack of trade intelligence between the United States and Canada and compare it to that of the United States and Mexican border. Yes there are illegal immigrants crossing from Canada into the United States so don't be misled by the United States Government. My concern is that since the Donald has started this trade argument with Canada is he going to propose building a wall between Canada and the United States. The US/Canada border is varied in length and landscape. To build a wall across this border would be next to impossible and the cost would be enormous - multiple times the cost of a wall at the US/Mexican border. Please explain to me what the Donald plans to gain with a trade war with Canada. I have heard the Donald say time after time that he authored the book "The Art of Making a Deal" (which he did not in fact write even though it bears his name - ever hear of Ghost writer) but his stance on trade deals is missing any sign of intelligence. We are a debtor nation and with the Donald in command the debt keeps getting larger. Pray God none of the nations holding our securities ever calls in their loans because this nation will go into default so quickly the mind will spin and the Donald will sh** bricks.
If you are American going into Canada they are screening the border mainly for weapons and drugs, things that Americans will carry a lot of. Coming back into the states it's a mixed bag. Sometimes you get a professional, and sometimes you get a real oddball on a power trip.
The suspense was building up as you approached the line marking. I turned around driving to the border crossing once on interstate as I missed the last exit. Later border security pulled me aside. Told me I was several ft. over the line when I did my u turn. And that polish people were then being smuggled over the border so wanted to check my trunk. I thought it was some polish joke. like how many polish can you fit in your trunk? But he was actually serious.
Walked that same bridge in 1997 , around 6pm . Leaving US was simple , just walked through a metal one way turnstyle, and walked into Canada ! The Canadian side , I just showed my driver's ID , and that was all ! Coming back , same thing ! Simple !!!
Wow think about this Canadians don’t have Much of Border problemThis is what u call First World High Class Border crossing it would be Great if we could have same thing in the Southern border without risking invasion
I do miss the days pre 9/11 of not having to have any id to cross back and forth into Canada. Boblo Island in the Detroit River was actually in Canada and never did anyone check ids before entering the park. Car full of high school friends most under 18 going into Windsor with no ids in the 1980s.. those days are long gone....
I need to go there n adhere what's going on when I see the near rears of nagra falls new York like I be hearing to it's very exquisite with the architectural landscapes of the forest and a embryonic small skyline known nfs Ontario
