The East Liverpool, Ohio police department decided to share on social media a picture of a couple overdosed and passed out in a car with a young boy in the backseat. Publishing the photo, say local law enforcement, was the city’s cry for help.

The Story Behind The Viral Photograph Of Opioid Victims | TIME
I like how people are worried about how blacks doing drugs were not portrayed in the same way and so on... that isn't the point here. Black or white , the issue is the opioids crisis and concentrating on that. Not making it into a racial thing.
Blacks and crack should have the same treatment but that doesn't mean then that whites doing heroin should be neglected too because blacks were or something like that. Two wrongs don't make a right.
I see lots of comments seeing junkies as less than human and so on... you know, they're people too, who have got into an addiction often because of depression and so on. Especially with opioids it is often self-medication for depression as well.
No compassion is a sign of psychopathy by the way... this is referred to those who feel morally superior because they don't do drugs. I don't but I don't see junkies as less than worms like many of you in the comments do. I personally don't even smoke cigarettes and I have never even smelled weed in my life but that doesn't mean I am better than anyone else.
Sadly a lot of people get hooked on these aftet a routine medical problem, and being prescribed these types of painkillers.
As a realtor, I show income properties to potential landlards, and occasionally meet tenants that are completely messed up because of these drugs. As the officer said, it truly is an epidemic.
the drs prescribing these drugs should be jailed as well. I was fired from a job last year because i made too much money... which was a blessing in disguise... I worked for an unethical dr who lost his license for trading oxy for sex...2 different women AND had 3 male patients who he was giving hundreds of oxy pills to and splitting the money they got for selling them on the streets. There is now a "drug rep" who bought the practice and is doing the same thing. Drs and big pharm do not care to help these people, there's no money without the drugs. Beware of "drug addiction/pain management" clinics. They will definitely help you get off your drug of choice!! just to get you addicted to THEIR drug of choice to line their filthy pockets
Not sorry for addicts, don't care which drug it is, new or old unless you were forced into it and I mean real force. Poor kids is all I can say, but didn't even look surprised at the situation. These bitches should be locked up for all kinda laws. Throw the key away. No sympathy. America needs to fix its problems, all the bullshit bandaids are oozing and the world is gonna see the dark side of a sociopathic society.
2:55 makes me want to kill all of them. Even though that child will not remember it, her subconscious will and it will catch up to her later.
I used to be understanding and then bullshit relapse darkened my life (not mine, someone very close.) I’m at the point now where I’m just like “give them one chance to rehabilitate and if they don’t, make fertilizer out of em”
And to the officers who posted the video or were involved in anyway. Thank you for not bad mouthing anyone. You showed harsh reality and imo they did as much as they could to respect the 3 in the photo yet show ppl the need for support. Its always a fine line!
Seems like positivity came from such a negative moment. Getting help to addicts can change SO MUCH for a family and a community!!! Keep that in mind. Thank you so much for sharing the photo. And btw i don't hate the grandma and boyfriend. Help them to avoid this from ever happening again. Love thy neighbor.. .lets all start by helping thy neighbor to even begin to love them
Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting new and different results is the surest sign of insanity. A twelve step program I believe in says BECAUSE OF OUR INABILITY TO ACCEPT PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY WE WERE ACTUALITY CREATING OUR OWN PROBLEMS. Addicts are only victims of their own illusions of escape. There is no escaping our responsibilities, they must be faced. In the small city I live in there are 9 people with 30 or more years of clean time and 27 with 20 or more years. They are living proof that that tired old lie that once an addict always an addict is just that a lie. They are not miracles just products of hard work and a believe that a Higher Power never meant for them to be useless. If you have a drug problem contact your local Narcotics Anonymous chapter, they are in the phone book. They will help if you are willing. I won't blow Sunshine up your drawers it ain't easy but me and my friends believe in with all our hearts.
Where were the photographs of the crack victims of the 1980's?
There weren't any because that was largely isolated to African Americans. Now that small town white America is affected, suddenly we are pulling on the heart strings of the public to "promote awareness."
This really broke my heart heroin is the devil taken our family friends Neighbors and children this is an epidemic that needs to stop anyone could make a change and a differences in our lifestyles help stop the heroin from taken life's
Pure trash. And it makes it all the more difficult for chronic pain sufferers to receive medication that can affect their ability to function.
I broke my back and collar bone in an accident at 16- I was paralyzed from the waist down and went through a risky 12 hr surgery. When I awoke in IC- the first thing they said was “wiggle your toes” and I did!
I was fortunate to not live life in a wheelchair and dependent on others. I didn’t need prescription pain medication until decades later. The pain was unyielding and impeded on every part of my life.
Through trial and error I found a medication that is narcotic - 3 times a day. It’s a low dose of a well known medication. I don’t feel high. I don’t feel like a zombie. The only thing I don’t feel? Is the searing pain. I do other things like physical therapy and wear a brace on and off.
This “epidemic” crap makes me sick. God bless that precious little boy- thank God he wasn’t injured- physically at least.
Opiates are worse than ANYTHING Crack ever did! Crack isn't physically addictive like Opiates plus back in the 80's there wasn't any social media to document the hardships people endured because of Crack so stop yapping at the mouth how this " attention " these people addicted to opiates are getting is due to " white privilege ", people are overdosing and dying from this shit no matter what, race or color can't stop that shit!
P.s. People use this main argument to justify the idea of addiction is not a disease, because people choose to use Opiates.
Here's my rebuttal: A smoker chooses to smoke, when he gets Lung cancer we call it a disease. When a person eats in a gluttonous manner and is lazy and gets Diabetes, they CHOSE, just like the smoker CHOSE! SO I ASK WHY THEN ARE ADDICTS BEING TREATED LIKE THEIR NOT SUFFERING FROM A DEADLY DISEASE???? WHY. I'D LOVE ANYONE'S OPINION ON THIS, THANKS JOHN P.
How about these prosecutor's go after the big Pharma that caused the epidemic, BUT THEY WON'T, BECAUSE THE BIG PHARMA HAVE BIG LOBBY DOLLARS!
KNOW THIS IF YOUR ACTUALLY A ADDICT, YOU WILL EVENTUALLY REALISE THAT YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN FIGHT THIS BATTLE, IT MAY TAKE 20 TRIES BUT YOU WILL WIN, IF YOU FIGHT LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT, ALL OUT WAR PERIOD!
My heart goes out to anyone addicted to drugs. I have seen first hand the problems they cause. My problem with this country is that it’s so biased it’s sickening. Brown boys and girls, brown men and women have been suffering this horrific addiction for just as long as anyone else and suffering overdoses. Now since suburban whites are starting to overdose or overdose more it’s an epidemic.. It’s sad how folks are treated as though they are worthless until someone needs a vote or face to represent something negative. Smh
I am just amazed at how when white folks are addicted to shit that they are victims and sympathy and funds for programs is the solution! During the crack epidemic, my people were labeled criminals and thugs and thrown in jail for years and there was no friggin sympathy!!! The solution was to jail them causing a criminal paper trail!!! 🤔
All people do is judge, judge, judge. You don’t understand that it isn’t the drug itself. The drug is like a loaded handgun. Both are harmless until someone picks them up and uses them. What people who judge don’t care about is WHY that person is using. They just think “what a loser “ because of the stigma attached to it. There are so many myths and misconceptions and nobody cares about the addict themselves they just care about the kids involved. That’s why this bullshit “war on drugs “ is going NOWHERE! Bullying and stigma are never going to work. Compassion people. Empathy. These are people just like you no different than your alcoholic aunt or your brother with a food addiction, sister with anorexia. So stop judging, start caring.
My heart hurts for all the children witnessing this.
So....do people shoot up then pass out later,? The mom with the toddler in the store? Did she shoot up in the aisle then pass out? Maybe in the bathroom then passed out?
to every person feels that he has failed to accomplish his dreams in this life and feel depressed i tell you DON'T be sad still You can win the hereafter by believing in God and become Muslim
((1) Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One, (2) Allah, the Eternal Refuge. (3) He neither begets nor is born, (4) Nor is there to Him any equivalent." Quran Ch112))
and if you become Muslim All your previous sins will be forgiven by God (( (68) And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty.
(69) Multiplied for him is the punishment on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein humiliated -
(70) Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.))
Allah Almighty says about this life: (“Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children – like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion.” (Quran 57:20))
In above verse, Allah states that the reality of this life is one of deception and we should not fall for its temporary enjoyments. In Quran, Allah Almighty says: “I have created the jinn and humankind only for My worship.” (Quran, 51:56))
(So let not this present life deceive you – Quran ch35:5)
& ((30) And it will be said to those who feared Allah, "What did your Lord send down?" They will say, "[That which is] good." For those who do good in this world is good; and the home of the Hereafter is better. And how excellent is the home of the righteous -
(31) Gardens of perpetual residence, which they will enter, beneath which rivers flow. They will have therein whatever they wish. Thus does Allah reward the righteous - Quran ch16:30-31))
((64) And this worldly life is not but diversion and amusement. And indeed, the home of the Hereafter - that is the [eternal] life, if only they knew. Quran ch29:64)
((53) Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." Quran ch39:53))
BE Muslim before You die there is hope
So tired of the media's fear mongering and weak lazy reporting in opiates the crack down on pain meds is what created current heroin epidemic and more they crack down on it the more pain patients are driven to streets for fentanyl and heroin etc, if u don't need opiates don't take them but stop trying prevent others that need it from getting it. And stop the fear mongering and false information and propaganda and ignorance and stop ruining family's destroying lives filling prisons and making gangs cartels and cops wealthy stop the failed crack down and failed war on drugs stop driving people to crime death disease overdoses etc the more u keep ignorantly cracking down the worse u make it
Not all opiate addicts are bad people. They love their children and make sure they get everything they need. They are ashamed of it and hate themselves for it and they need to keep working on the opioids unless they start getting real sick and start losing their jobs and their bills are stacking up. The children are the real victims in any drug addiction, but with so much fentanyl laced heroin going around, overdoses are getting more and more common. I've had four friends died from overdoses. They were good people and had promising futures if they would just put their mind into it, unfortunately, all that's left from them are grieving families now.
One time one lady with her 5 year old kid his mom overdosed infront of my store she was shaking and the kid was screaming out his soul help my mom i called paramadics they took to long i just could'nt handle it i went to hide in the backroom becuase i felt i want to pass out from the scene but the kids voice is still burned in my brain and its been a year :/
