🍬 Metformin - Serious Problems & Natural Alternatives
A few years ago my uncle was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. He was quickly prescribed Metformin, also known as Glucophage.
I told him immediately NOT to take this drug and I’ll tell you why in a minute …
However, he refused to listen to me and said “my doctor told me I have to take this, probably the rest of my life, or else I’ll have to start taking insulin shots and I hate needles”.
Of course, this is what doctors do - prescribe drugs. They are legal drug pushers, no different than the street drug dealer pushing narcotics.
His doctor never asked what he ate, what my uncle should eat… No talk about exercise, supplements, stress management or anything else that will naturally improve his blood sugar, which would be the only REAL long-term solution … and NOT a drug that’s loaded with negative side-effects.
And trust me, I’m not against drugs - I just hate it when they are the FIRST and usually the ONLY solution a doctor will give you.
Now, in regards to Metformin - this is a drug that I personally took in around 1992 to improve my blood sugar and insulin sensitivity - so I can gain more muscle and lose fat.
In fact, many of my clients and professional athletes used this drug for the same reasons.
Additionally, Metformin is known to have anti-aging benefits as well…
So for me, it was a double bonus.
However, within days I felt the negative side-effects and so did my friends and clients.
Immediately, I started to feel unwell -- stomach pain, nausea, loss of appetite, heartburn, headaches and so forth.
I just felt slow and sluggish...
But, I kept pushing and kept taking the drug, hoping the negative side-effects would dissipate over time.
And some of them did… or, maybe I just tolerated them better.
However, over time there were more serious side-effects.
For me and a few of my friends and clients, was kidney problems - which is a known side-effects of the drug.
Poor kidney function can also lead to elevated blood pressure, which it did in other people I knew and later, liver problems as well.
Remember, even though your kidneys and liver have different roles, they DO work WITH each other. As one weakens, so will the other.
Mind you, NONE of us took the recommended dosage for diabetics, we took half the dose. Just imagine how much worse it is for diabetics taking the full dosage?!!...
Which in fact, is why most users of Metformin typically do not refill their prescriptions and rarely use the drug for more than a few months.
YET, it’s one of the most prescribed drugs for diabetics, other than later prescribing insulin shots.
Additional side-effects of Metformin are heart problems and lactic acidosis - which is a very serious problem and very common with Metformin.
Which has caused many deaths with this drug.
In fact, drinking alcohol or taking any drug that puts strain on your liver or kidneys, magnifies this side-effect.
… So to make a long story short, we all gave up on this drug and I later discovered various herbs, vitamins and minerals that when combined together - had much better benefits, no side-effects and yes, still had the anti-aging benefits.
You can get more detail about these natural alternatives to Metformin below this video, in the description area.
However, don’t go there just yet… I’m not done with the story.
So about a year later I was at a family wedding and I saw my uncle again and ask him how he was doing.
He said “I’m doing okay, I’m eating less sugars and I’ve improved my diet and walking daily. My blood sugar has improved, but it’s still high and so is my A1C levels. My doctor isn’t very happy and neither is my wife.”
I then asked about Metformin and his dosage and he said “oh, you were right… I got off of it. My kidneys weren’t working well because of it and my doctor decided to switch me to another drug and I had problems with that, so I decided to just stop taking everything and let my body heal”.
And to make a long story short - he is no longer diabetic. No drugs. No insulin and NO needles!

Doc I have a serious question. Right now I’m 14 and I’m thinking of taking safe doses of HGH 9 (Growth Hormone Supplements) during puberty so I can gain more height and increase bone length before my bones fuse.
Forget it. 98% of oral “GH boosters” don’t work. And even if they do, they aren’t going to make you grow. You need to make sure you lower your estrogen levels to a low-normal range because higher estrogen fuses your bones and prevents you from getting taller.
NOW, legally speaking I can’t tell you what to do or how to do this. Do a search and eat a diet and taking supplements that lowers high estrogen levels. For example, stay away from Soy products.
Same happens with my father. They won't give him a balanced diet. They'll just say eat this eat that. Mostly carbs. No complete balanced diet. They'll just keep on changing medicine. Recently started giving insulin along with tablets of metaformin.
Hey Dr. Sam,
This is Samar, pet name - Sam :P from India and i have a question for you or better say a query which i want to clear and yes it is not related with the video you posted above, this is your latest one so I'm posting my query here :-
Dr. Sam i just wanted to know about how our body deals with Masturbation, I mean how far negative or positive it affects our body?
Your reply will be awaited.
I'm not "pushing" or forcing anyone to take it... I offer the information for free and using my experience (the same that allowed me to learn the info I share) I've developed a couple of products that I believe in. Some people understand this and still consider the information valuable.
It's so strange that a profession like a doctor is least concerned about the life of another person.all his bad deeds or karma are going to be the cause of his misfortune sooner or later.Thanx doctor Sam for enlightening all of us for all these drugs. I AM A DIABETIC SINCE 35 YEARS ON INSULIN AND A WHOLE LOT OF MEDICATION. 👍👍🍀
I’ve been telling my husband he needed to get off METFORMIN for years. I shared your video with him even tho I’m just in another room. I hope he listens. Do you have any suggestions for him to safely do it?
One of a few things I disagree and agree with you
I am a medical doctor too
So here is what I agree:
1. Metformin may impair kidney function, so does almost 99% other drugs, especially in patient with history of hypertension, daily alcohol consumption, previously renal injury
2. Taking metformin alone without improving lifestyle e.g. dietary intake, exercise is like eating cake without icing (an analogy), it could work but it work much better with the combination of both
3. A long usage of metformin in those without insulin resistance (e.g. non diabetetic patient, but for people that took insulin the improve muscle or on diet) has been proven to be harmful in long run in conjunction with point no.1
What I'd like to disagree:
1. Taking metformin outright from the medication regime which consist of oral antihyperglymic + diet intake + exercise and only switching to natural alternatives, especially in patient that already taken insulin, I might be wrong here but this require more research to be proven, or if there is already a few credible article or medical journal you can link it or email to me?
2. Have All the alternatives ingredient scientifically proven to be natural alternatives to metformin in which improves pancreas function, and is can it still provide as full alternative for patient with years history of diabetic in which the pancreas function has almost fully shut down?
I love your video, especially some of the nutritional vids in which I include in my patients medication regime on dietary intake
Hope we can have a discussion, cheers!
Thanks for taking the time to post a detailed comment and watching the video all the way through - I appreciate it =)
Changing one’s lifestyle (diet, exercise, stress management, supplements, etc.) is the BEST route. I’ve never suggested anyone simply take a drug and be done with it. Unfortunately, MOST people do it this way. And MOST doctors don’t give any information or have any real talk about making lifestyle improvements.
My cousin’s doctor put him on Metformin and told him to cut out all sugar. For breakfast, he suggest “corn flakes with skim milk”?!!! … LOL.. .stupid doctor doesn’t realize the corn flakes (even the “sugar free” one) has a glycemic index of that of SUGAR and skim (non-fat milk) has a very high glycemic load.
Thus, he told him to basically have PURE SUGAR for breakfast. Which is what my cousin did, based in his idiot doctor’s recommendation.
And by the way, my cousin did NOT have hypertension, renal issues or consume alcohol daily or much at all. He still had major kidney problems, enough that his doctor told him to get off. And this is normal because a higher dose of Metformin is needed over time (as the body adapts) and that causes even more “wear and tear” on the kidneys.
Truth is, I’d much prefer putting someone on long-acting insulin, such a Lantus, to help improve beta cells and various other functions, which can help reverse diabetes (when combined with other factors) -- than ever taking Metformin. I can’t get into all the details here, however - I’ve reversed diabetes on a few dozen people over the years. I just can’t ever say anything about it because I don’t want the government to come after me. “They know best”, “Please trust the FDA” and “always speak to your doctor before doing anything” ;-)
Erectile Dysfunction, or ED, is a condition of a male’s penis that prevents it from getting an erection from sexual intercourse. However, many male patients get this condition from many pre existing health problems. The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, or the NCCAM, released that ED affects nearly 30 million males in the United States alone. In most patients, certain drugs can single handedly treat the condition. Below, is a list of different antibiotics used to treat ED and what side effects you may get, as well as what other treatments your doctor might prescribe you.
