Basics of The Italian Game | Chess

So the Italian game starts with e4 and if your opponent responds with e5 you proceed with what's probably the most logical and expected move knight to f3 attacking the e5 pawn. Now let’s say black brings out this knight to c6, the Italian game is characterized by this move right here bishop to c4 as opposed to bishop to b5 which would be the Spanish. We are looking at the Italian so let’s say really quickly we go to c4 the opponent goes to c5, the best continuation is c3 to try to keep the initiative. Other moves such as knight to c3 castling d3 is also okay, but this is the best continuation whereas regarded as such. Knight to f6 attacking its pawn now instead of going d4 which is also probably good may be the best way to play it. We are going to look at this continuation d3. Now black castles and white immediately jumps into his territory looking for trouble. So black doesn't really know what white is up to but it goes to kick him with the h6 pawn and this allows to for a nice little sacrifice play with h4. So black snaps the knight h takes g and now we have this beautiful open file for our rook. So black wanted to keep this material advantage which threats the knight and now the queen coming to h5 black is busted, he actually only has one move to stop maiden one, which is bringing the rook to EA giving the king a little bit of space to escape. But rather than going queen takes knight we go queen takes f7 forcing the king into the corner and then one more sacrifice rook takes h7 the king has to take the rook and now the queen just returns to h5 check mate with the bishop cutting off the g8 square. So that's a miniature that was played by Grackle may be the first genius of chess that illustrates a lot of good ideas like the use of a sacrifice to open a file. It also shows in the exchange trading material for time and space because one unit of time retreats its knight to h7 and its more than anything space for that rook to dominate the h5. So once the queen joins the rook on the h5 black is hopeless. So that was just a quick look at the Italian game with the Juego Piano. I recommend it for young players it’s a great way to get your chess game started.

5 Advanced Bouldering Techniques | Rock Climbing

So right now I'm going to share with you five advanced techniques, some moves that you might not always think about, but some pretty interesting ways to kind of use your body and coordinate some motion. The first example is something called a rose move, and a rose move is when you actually open away from the walls, that your hips are facing in a different direction. Often times the way the holds are laid out on the wall will dictate whether or not these types of moves are going to be necessary. So the rose move would be when my left hand was here, and I'm crossing underneath with my right hand, turning my hips away from the wall. Another example of an advanced technique will be what's known as a knee bar. A knee bar is when you're using not necessarily your knee, but more commonly the to of your thigh, and you're going to use that thigh and your foot to really create some opposition and allow your body to really be weighted on just that knee bar, and the tension that you're getting between those two points. So right there you'll notice I can take all my body weight and place it right here on this knee bar with my left foot really pushing and getting that thigh up against that hold, which allows me to turn this corner. One other technique would be similar to using a toe hook, except you're using two toe hooks at the same time, which is also known as a bat hang. In this instance, a bat hang allows me to make this change in angle and complete this transition. So that would be a bat hang. Another technique is something known as a bicycle, and a bicycle is where you're using the bottom side of your toe and the top of your toe, which would be a toe hook, at the same time to basically squeeze one hold or two holds together to create that same sense of opposition, almost like closing a vice. So right here I'll use a bicycle on this yellow hold to keep both of my feet up, keep my body in position. So in this position, you can see one leg is pulling, the other leg is pushing the whole time, I have my core involved to help keep those legs up, my body in position. That's how you use a bicycle. The final move here is something known as a drop knee. The drop knee is a great way to kind of lower your center of gravity, and keep it in your base of support, which are the contact points you have with the wall. When your center of gravity is lower, your base of support, it makes you more stable, more capable of doing a move slowly, with a bit more control. So to get into the drop knee, I'll place my left foot on this hold, and then literally turn my knee in, dropping it down, and twisting up. That drop knee allows you to really keep your center of gravity nice and low within your base of support, making your body nice and balanced and stable, really allows you to suck that hip in nice and close to the wall, to get a little bit of extra reach out of that whole system. And those are a couple of advanced bouldering techniques you might encounter here in the gym.

How to Tie a Merovingian Knot | Men's Fashion

We're in New York. And I'm going to teach you how to tie the Merovingian knot. It's also called Ediety knot. So the way you want to start for this knot, it's a knot that goes around the narrow side quite a few times, so you want to wear the wide end fairly long compared to the narrow end, probably about 20 inches below depending on the length of your tie. So this is how you start. The wide end goes underneath the narrow end. You go over the top once and pull it out on the same side. So this is what you have. Now you go over to the front, underneath through the back, and now you should be in this position so the tie is upside down. So this is a tie from my friend Cara Patrizio from Capelli in Naples, Italy. And this is how you proceed. So your tie is upside down. You go around the back, through the top. You're almost there. Now the last step you have to complete is reverse the knot, loosen it gently, and slide the white part inside the loop that you've created for that. Adjust it nicely. Tighten the knot, and there you go. You have your Merovingian knot. So after spending so much time tying the knot, it's something you don't want to wear when you're really casual. It's really a knot that is used in formal occasions, probably wearing a three piece suit, for example, or a nice blazer. And definitely going with a sophisticated look with this type of knot. The guy who created this knot probably watch Matrix a little bit too much, but this is probably where the name came from, the Merovingian knot.

How to Tie a Cross Knot | Men's Fashion

I'm Charles from Louis Purple, and I'm going to teach you how to do the Christensen knot, a.k.a. the cross knot. This knot was made popular by Amanda Christensen who used to be a tie maker and who really made this knot popular. So it's still pretty rare, and I would say fairly difficult to tie, but I'm sure with a little bit of practice you will get a hold of it. So this is how you proceed. You want to have the wide end on the right hand side, the narrow end on the left hand side, like usual, except this time you want to have the wide end a little bit, much longer than the narrow end, probably about 20 inches depending on the width and the length of your tie. This is how you proceed. The wide end goes over the narrow end. It goes underneath. You pull it up and slide it inside between the neck and the knot. And you pull it on the left hand side. So this is what you should have. And now the tricky part. Just put your fingers so that you still keep enough room to slide it in after you went twice over and underneath. And then it's a regular way to finish the knot. Once you went twice over the narrow end with your fingers, you don't want to pull it too tight. Otherwise it's going to be hard to slide it in. But this is the result you want to obtain. You adjust the knot. You have this cross shape. That's the particularity about the Christensen knot. I think it's a really elegant look with any tie, even though it works great with skinny ties. So this is how you tie the cross knot, or also called the Christensen knot.

Jungle Bob is here to show you that owning a pet reptile or amphibian is not as crazy as you might think. In this video, he tells you seven cool facts about bearded dragons. When we think of the continent of Australia, we think of unusual animals right away, from kangaroos to platypuses to wallabies. They're all over there in Australia, it seems. But there are some that are not that unusual, just fantastic creatures. And one of them is the Pogona Vitticeps, the Bearded Dragon. There's a number of different species in Australia, but the popular one is the dragon you see in front of you here, that has dominated the pet world now for the last 20 to 25 years. In their native Australia, they're inquisitive creatures that easily inhabit areas where people are. They like to climb fence posts and look out to see what's going on. Males will dominate a territory and have multiple females as mates. And they're prolific breeders. They have up to 20 eggs at a time and they dominate the landscape they come from. They're quick when they have to be to escape predators. They're extremely fast runners. For the most part, they're kind of sit there and look out and see what's going on animals in the wild. They're very fun and animated to watch. They'll eat a variety of things from insects to greens to small pieces of meat, such as rodents. Bearded Dragons are largely protected now in their native Australia. They're no longer exported, which is very good. Thank you, Australia, for allowing us to have some of them. But because of their prolific nature, they are no longer hunted there and they're free to multiply and grow in Australia without any danger of being threatened by the pet trade or by confiscation. The Bearded Dragon gets his name, as you can see, the big male here is going to get a little territorial. First he gets up on his front limbs. And if he gets really agitated with the smaller one in front of him, he'll do two things. First, he'll start bobbing his head up and down to say, "I'm the biggest dragon in this area, so back off." And if that doesn't work, he actually throws out his throat. It turns black and he puffs it out. It looks like a big black beard. And that's where the animal gets his name. The Bearded Dragon will do that every time an animal is reintroduced into its area. If he wants to threaten it, he will throw that beard out. Sometimes in captivity they don't bother doing it anymore because they're so docile by nature and he knows this other dragon, so he's not really doing it at this moment. But two males together, one will dominate the other. He'll say, "I'm the biggest dragon here." If the other one is of equal size and equal temperament, they will fight. If not, the smaller one actually submits. And what they do is take their arm and they move it ever so slowly in a counter clockwise direction and the larger dragon will understand that that's like a person saying, "Don't hit me." He puts his hands up and says, "I don't want to fight." So, they work things out together in nature. In nature, of course, they can disappear and run in different areas. In a captive environment, they have to have that submissive language going back and forth between them in order to avoid fights in captivity. The Bearded Dragon, an Australian treasure for sure.

The most important thing is how to finish your flair routine. You're doing all sorts of stuff, bottles are going all over the place, everyone's sitting there like this watching everything you're doing all in awe, how do you finish, how to you pour the bottle? The last thing you want to do is do all this crazy stuff, and then just take the bottle and go like that, it's anticlimactic, it doesn't work. So what we want to do is we want to learn how to do is Flip to Pour. What you're going to do is you're going to hold your bottle in what's called a bartender grip. Instead of holding it like this, we're going to hold it by the neck just like a bartender would take it out of the bottle or out of their well. What we're going to do is we're going to take our bottle, we're going to take our tin, the mouth is going to face up because that's what we're going to pour it into. We're going to take our bottle and you're going to snap it outward, away from your body, and what you're going to do is as soon as you let go of your bottle you're going to simply open your hand and the bottle is going to fall right back into it. It looks like this, it's really easy actually. It's a one-rotation, you're just going to snap, open, and let the bottle fall into your hand It's already in a pouring position. With your other hand you're going to have your tin set here ready to go. You're going to flip, catch, and you're already pouring the bottle. Then as you get more and more comfortable, you go to glass with liquid in it. Because we're flipping the bottle centrifugal force is involved so we want to make sure that the bottle has less than two ounces, or two ounces or less. Any more than that and this move can't be done, we'd have to figure out a different way to pour. Maybe we could take the bottle and throw it around our head, but in this case what we're going to do is, we're going to take our bottle, our tin, we're going to set it, we're going to flip, and we're going to pour. When you're done you bring your bottle down to cut the pour and then were going to just put our tin on the bar. If we're doing shots maybe we'll pour it straight from a tin into our glass. So again, just to reiterate the concept, we're going to take our bottle, we're going to put our tin here, we're going to flip our bottle, catch our bottle, and pour. When we're ready to stop we're going to simply bring our bottle down, we're going to pour it into our glass or whatever we're pouring it into, and that is how you do a Bottle Flip to a Pour.

I'm Mike Patrick, and this is how to do the classic Cups And Balls Trick. You have three balls and three cups. You place one of the balls onto the center cup, stack and then snap, and then one of the balls magically goes through the cups. I can do it again. I place this ball on top. Give it a snap of the fingers and the ball goes right through. It happens every single time whether you want it to or not. And that's the classic Cups And Balls Trick. Now this is a very fancy set of cups, but you can do it with any cups. If you have coffee cups that you can get from Starbucks, you can do it with Starbucks cups and some napkins. That's probably the best way of doing it, because you can just do it in front of your friends, impromptu. It's the easiest method. You need three balls. Actually more specifically, you need four balls. The fourth ball is secret. They never get to know about this. The fourth ball is put in the middle cup. So if you have three cups, you should have cup A, nothing, cup B, that's the ball inside, and then cup C goes on the bottom of this. If you hold the cups in your hand like this, they can see the mouth of this cup, and by grabbing the bottommost cup, you rotate it towards yourself and you put it down. The second cup actually has a ball inside of it, so you don't want to do this, because they'll see the ball. What you do is, again, you rotate it towards yourself, and you do it quickly enough, not fast, but enough so the ball doesn't fall out before the cup hits the table. You place this down. This is essentially what you're going to be doing over and over again. So what you do, is you place this ball on top, you stack them on top, snap your fingers and show that the ball has apparently went through the cup. You do the exact same thing. Re-stack the cups. Place them in a line. Now there are two balls under this cup. When you place this on top, snap, goes through, and then finally you do it one more time, and that makes all three balls go through. And that is how you do the classic Cups And Balls Trick.

Jungle Bob is here to show you that owning a pet reptile or amphibian is not as complicated as you might think. In this video, he shares eight tips about caring for a bearded dragon. The number one pet lizard in the world is certainly the Bearded Dragon. This is a phenomenon that started about 25 years ago when these animals were imported from their native country of Australia. But very soon we found that they bred readily in captivity and now you'll never see an animal in the US marketplace, the pet marketplace, that comes from Australia. Their ancestors did. They are bred in captivity and bred readily. And the reason for their popularity is twofold, really. Number one, the bottom one here is pretty much an adult; 18 inches is where they max out. But they come from a very dry habitat, almost desert-like. They'll live on sand. So anybody's ever kept a tropical lizard like an iguana knows what a mess it can be when they do their business. When a Bearded Dragon uses the bathroom, he does it in a tank where there's sand and heat lamps, and it's extremely easier to pick that up than it is something that's tropical in a wet environment. So he's very hygienic. But, really, the number one reason for their popularity is they are extremely friendly creatures. Nothing you see before you here is a trained animal. This is just the nature of them. We have customers in our store that come in this time of the year, summer time, they have them on their shoulders, they have them under their hats, under their jackets, and they walk around with them. We just recently created, as a matter of fact, a carry bag called a Beardie Bag that we produce here, to carry your Bearded Dragon with you wherever you go, to the super market, to the shopping center and the movies. People keep their dragons with them. It's got a wow factor because it looks kind of dinosaur-like, but really, all those little appendages and spikes on the side of them are not there for anything but to stop an animal from biting it and swallowing it if it was out in nature. So. it really is not as rough looking as it seems. They are omnivorous in their diet, so they're easy to keep. Any type of insects, crickets, worms, et cetera., they'll gobble up. And they love their greens. So moms love Bearded Dragons because they encourage salad eating throughout the family. The Bearded Dragon's going to eat salad, so do you. So kids have to learn how to do that as well as Dragons do. The Bearded Dragon has supplanted and taken the place of the Green Iguana, that for decades dominated the industry. Green Iguanas are a difficult animal to keep in comparison to these, and we really promote the use of Bearded Dragons as a pet for a child. These are excellent. They come now in a variety of colors. In their native land they would be more sand colored, but through captive and selective breeding, we see yellow, orange, and red dragons that are striking in color and just make a tremendous companion. We call them study buddies here. We call them lap lizards. We call them anything we want as far as to show people they are fantastic companion animals. The Bearded Dragon: easy to keep, never going to bite you, and long-lived, 15, 20 years.

This is one of knitting's most complicated fabrics to make, but it is one of the most rewarding also. As you can see it looks almost intricately woven. It's a very, very thick and squishy fabric. I'll be showing you on a size 13 with bulky yarn. This is normally a much bigger needle size than I would use to make fabric with this yarn. I would normally use a size 10 and this is herringbone on a size 10 with the same yarn. It's just way too packed in and way too dense. So when you're working herringbone, go up a few needle sizes. A few things to know about herringbone before we get started is that it's definitely a two row pattern, so you need to work the front and work the back in order to see what its going to look like. And you have to knit in for a couple inches before you can actually see a result. So here's what we're going to do. To begin you have to slip two stitches as if to knit. You're going to slip as if to knit and slip as if to knit, then you're going to insert the tip of your left hand needle into the front of both stitches and watch carefully first. You're going to wrap the yarn around and bring up a loop and then you're only going to drop off that first stitch. Leave the second one there. Then you're going to slip as if to purl and slip as if to knit, and then do the same thing. Insert the tip of the left needle into the front of both stitches and pull up a new loop. From them on out it's exactly the same thing. Drop one off, slip as if to knit, slip as if to purl, knit into the front of both stitches and only drop off the first loop. So don't forget that when you start a row, you have to slip as if to knit, slip as if to knit, but from then on out, slip as if to purl, slip as if to knit. This is not TV knitting, at least not at first. This is definitely something you have to pay attention to and keep your eyes on. Slip as if to purl, slip as if to knit, knit into the front of these stitches, and only take the first loop off. So here I am nearing the end of my row, I'm going to slip as if to purl, slip as if to knit. Knit two through the front, drop one off. Slip as if to purl, slip as if to knit, knit through the front with the left hand needle, drop the first one off, and there's one stitch left. You're going to knit it through the back loop. Then when you're on the back, you're going to purl two together, but only drop the first loop off. You might need your fingertips for that. Then repeat across the row. Purl two together, drop only the first loop off. Purl two together, drop only the first loop off. Continue going across the row that way and when you get to the very end, you'll have only one stitch left, and you will purl it. And that is how you get the beautiful herringbone stitch. Good luck and pay attention to it at first.

Articulator Exercises | Accent Training

Watch more How to Do an Accent videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/500458-Articulator-Exercises-Accent-Training Learn articulator exercises that will help you do a foreign accent from voice and speech coach Andrea Caban in this Howcast video. Here are some articulator exercises. So, first blow through your lips, and you can use your voice there, and you can go un-voiced. Blow through your tongue, and then un-voiced, and then shake out your face. Okay. Then, you want to take your tongue, and you want to touch every single one of your teeth on the front, top, the back top, the front bottom, and the back bottom. Like this. Faster. One more time. Good, blow through your lips. Blow through your tongue, and shake out your face. Okay. Next, I want you to isolate your lip corners. So, if you isolate your lip corners, you bring them straight back. Kind of this worthless weird grin. And then go into relaxation. Good, now bring them forward. Good, now relax. Next, I'd like you to channel and bunch your tongue. This is a really challenging one so try to use a mirror, and watch yourself do it, and you'll get the muscles. Next, I'd like you to exercise your soft palette, or your velum. It's the part that moves when you yawn. So, I want you to yawn. Lovely, now yawn on the right side only. It helps to use your right hand, and then yawn on the left side only. Good, now yawn on both sides. Good, now you really feel your soft palette, when it feels raised. So, in our accent trainings, sometimes the soft palette will be raised, sometimes it will be dropped, but you know where your soft palette is now. Next, I want you to play with some tongue tip action. So, bring you tongue tip to your alveolar ridge. It's that little gum ridge right behind your front teeth, right here. And, I just want you to go la, and bring the tongue tip down. La, la, great. Now, la, le, li, lo, lu, and you rest your tongue behind your bottom teeth each time. Then, you learn if you learn nothing else from me, this is the trick you want to take away. Okay, so you want to stick your tongue out and articulate a phrase around your tongue. You're overworking the muscles of your tongue. It's like when a baseball player picks up a bat and weight's it before he goes up to the plate, and then when he goes up to the plate, he takes the weight off, and it's easy to swing. This is the same concept. Okay, so your line of text was, "Speak the speech I pray you as I pronounced it to you, trippingly on the tongue". Hamlet's Advice to the Players. You want to stick your tongue and say, "Speak the speech I pray you as I pronounced it to you, trippingly on the tongue". And, then you stick your tongue back in and it's quite easy to say, "Speak the speech I pray you as I pronounced it to you, trippingly on the tongue". So, practice these articulator exercises every day, five minutes, and then you'll be in great shape for some accent training.

You're going to need a cucumber. Just cutting the half first, and off, and slice, one more time. Then you're going to get the seeds out, then julienne. That's your julienne, cucumber. This is avocado. Take the stem off then go 360 degrees. Twist and then you slice. And that's your avocado. Now we are ready to roll the California roll. Sea weed, rough side up, this is a half sea weed with your hand. And I'm going to do it inside out. Inside the roll is, rice is outside. Regular roll is sea weed is outside. So we're going to spread the rice on the sea weed, cover each corner, each edge with rice then we flip over so that the rice goes outside. Now I'm going to flip over. Crab cake, avocado, cucumber. Now pick up your bamboo with your thumb. Hold the other ingredients with your other forefingers and coming in. Make it tighter. Pick up, roll and shape. And then this is the masago. You can dress up masago on the outside. Masago is seasoned smelt roe. Again. So that's your California roll. So now I'm going to show you how to slice. Cut in half first, coming in, cut in half again, cut the half again, cut half again.'' That's how you make California roll.

Kristina: And I'm Kristina. Aaron: And we're professional dance instructors here in New York City. Today we're going to be continuing in our foxtrot series taking a look at the corner step. Now this is a really great element that we're going to use inside of our foxtrot to, one, change direction, as well as to help us avoid obstacles out on the dance floor, whether it may be other couples around us, or to just get us back to facing the direction we need to be travelling. So what we're going to do is start in closed position with our partner here and we're going to start with a basic step. Walk, walk, side together. Now if any of you at home can see this, there's actually a great column behind Kristina here, and just so we avoid that, we're going to use this corner step action. So as the gentleman, I'm going to step forward on my left foot and the lady is going to step back on her right. And we're going to rock and replace our weight, stepping back, forward for the ladies, and turning a quarter of a turn, side, together, to change direction. So let's take a look at that one more time together. And slow, slow, quick quick. Slow, slow, quick quick. And again repeating that same step. Slow, slow, quick quick, using it to turn about a quarter of a turn each time. Slow, slow, quick quick, and you see how we can just use this to keep turning us until we are facing the direction we need to be. Now let's try this with some music.

7 Care Tips for Green Iguanas | Pet Reptiles

Jungle Bob is here to show you that owning a pet reptile or amphibian is not as complicated as you might think. In this video, he shares seven tips about caring for a green iguana. Throughout the decades that reptiles have been popular pets, I think the number one seller probably has been the green iguana. Green iguanas hold the stigma from those old Japanese B movies, where they put an iguana across a model of Tokyo and pretended that he was Godzilla. Iguanas have fascinated Americans and have become the number one pet, for sure, over the last 20, 30 years. Personally, I don't think they make the best pets. And the reason why is because there is a lot of husbandry needed; these are tropical animals, they require the proper humidity and heat. They need ultraviolet lights, they need a specialized diet. But, really, it's because they sometimes have an attitude. When they get about 6 feet long, a male iguana suddenly isn't as calm as my little friend here. A male iguana will potentially turn on its owner, and establish its territory in the home. If it's in a fish tank, he's absolutely going to be upset. They really have to be outside in an 8 by 8 foot, 8 foot high room, sitting on a limb, looking down on their owner. And then they're perfectly fine pets. But if you want to keep them in a fish tank and approach them from the top, they sometimes get skittish. When they are skittish, the number one thing they do is whip their tail in your direction. The second thing they'll do is try to bite. And the third thing is rake you with their claws. Either one of those things is an event you don't want to experience, because a 6-foot iguana, this guy is about 2, maybe, a 6-foot iguana is a formidable creature that can inflict harm. We also have seen that male iguanas when they get old, when they become sexually mature, turn on their owners because they're territorial and want to establish their own area. And that is usually the time they end up coming back to the pet store, or back where they came from. If no one will take them back, people will let them go. And in northern climates, that's a death sentence for the animal. In southern climates, like Florida, they have procreated, and they have now established, and they are now truly an invasive species. So, I always say, if you want an iguana, please go get one. My choice for an iguana would be the rock iguanas. The rock iguanas are a big bodied creature that comes form the Caribbean Islands. And here I've got a good friend of mine, and the green iguana is scared of him, I would imagine so. This is Castro; he's a Cuban rock iguana. And you see Castro, who is now 15 years old, has a much different temperament than our green iguana friend. A 15 year old iguana would not be as tolerant to be touched in this nature. Castro is not trying to whip me with his tail, Castro is not trying to run away. He is a really sure of himself type of lizard who makes a wonderful pet or companion. We choose not to keep an animal this big in a cage, unless you build something custom for him. They freely can roam a home, and know where to do their business. They're straight herbivores; they love their veggies and fruits, and they really are an incredible companion and pet. We take him to the park and walk him like a dog all the time. So, if you're going to go for an iguana, think twice about the green types. There are some dessert species that are great, but the rock iguanas truly rock. Here's the Cuban iguana, Castro.

We want to remember that when we deal with that material in the art, we apply manipulation to the wrist for two purposes. One is a defensive purpose. We have to keep in mind that the art, to some degree, was designed for the law enforcement community, as well. Therefore, you can't just hit everybody and sometimes it's easier to solve problem with wrist manipulations. Of course, we use it for offensive purposes when we deal with taking down hostile individuals and moving them from point A to point B, when you want them to comply. Let's first talk about the more common wrist manipulations that you see. I'm sorry, but you're going to have to donate your hands for that purpose. Okay, so the most common one that you would see is that famous "S" shape or goose neck situation. What you want to remember about this wrist manipulation, is that it's important that all the joints are going to be bent. Therefore, wrist is bent. Elbow is bent, sorry, not straight. Wrist is bent and not straight. Once you're here, it's important that the form will stay parallel to the ground. There will be a squeeze between the two hands. Once the squeeze were applied, they'll be rotation from my hands so the direction will come to here. A wrist manipulation like this could be applied in many, many ways. For example, if Ravi grabbed my arm and I do not want to punch him, for various reasons. All I can do is apply a manipulation to his wrist and come out of it in that direction. I can also apply this manipulation when he grabbed my shirt. Obviously, I'm afraid of a head butt so I'm right away going to protect myself but from here, I can apply exactly the same wrist manipulation. How do you feel? Ravi: Fine, sir.

Owning a pet reptile or amphibian is not as difficult as you might think. However, Jungle Bob says a chameleon is one of the exceptions. In this video, he explains why. Chameleons are sought-after pets and I really have to interview people long and hard to make sure they know what they're getting into. Because of all the animals in the pet world, chameleons are certainly the hardest to stay alive. By nature, they're extremely skittish. You see this one doesn't want to be out in the limelight here he doesn't like the bright lights that are on him. He wants to be in a tree and he wants to hide. But that's not possible today, so he'll be okay for a few minutes. As a keeper, he needs a couple of things to keep him alive. First, they really don't do well in a glass enclosure. Chameleons like airflow so a screen is much better for them. A screened enclosure where the air can flow through is great. They can also grab on to the screen with their nails and climb all around, it which they can't do with glass. Worse than that, though, in order to keep them happy is they will need a water source to drink from and that is not a bowl. Chameleons like this do not drink from standing water. They drink drips. When it rains they drink as much water as they can. But the only other water they get is basically dew in the morning that will form on the leaves and will start to drip off of it. And we will often see them licking the leaves inside their enclosures to get their moisture. If we forgot to mist them and forget to put that moisture on, put a bowl of water and go away for three days, they will die of thirst. They do not know enough to go down to a standing body of water and take a drink. Some species yes, Veiled chameleons, no. So, you really have to be a diligent keeper and keep your animal watered as best as possible. There are a number of devices on the market to do that automatically. But there's nothing like an old plant Mister that you use with your hand to make sure your lizard is drinking every day. As they get to know you they will take it right out of the end of the bottle in order to get their much needed water source. Chameleons are really an advanced lizard keepers pet. You cannot be a beginner and keep a chameleon happy. They have very fragile legs and arms. They need to be totally camouflaged and have places to hide inside or they become very short-lived. Even in the best of conditions chameleons are not long-lived creatures. Some only a couple of years. Some, five, six, seven years is about as much as you're going to get as chameleon pet. So, a wonderful, "Wow, what is that?" type of animal, but extremely fragile and you have to think twice whether or not you want to buy a chameleon. Of all the chameleon species veiled chameleons are absolutely the most hearty. The males actually this beautiful crest on top of their hand. And they can actually be taught to eat out of your hand by holding the food item here. They'll shoot it out of your hand. He's a little bit too nervous to do it today, but he'll eat it right out of your hand and that's a wonderful thing to observe in captivity. So there's the veiled chameleon, one of the best chameleons on the market.

How Much to Raise | Poker Tutorials

Like these Gambling Lessons !!! Check out the official app http://apple.co/1HCxrup Watch more How to Play Poker videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/515011-How-Much-to-Raise-Poker-Tutorials Hey, I'm Nicky Numbers, Professional Poker Player, and I'm going to help you learn how to size your raises. The first thing you need to know about raising is when you can raise and when you can't because it's so common for people to confuse the terms "bet" and "raise". Pre-flop, there are blinds. Say in this example, the blinds are 25/50. Well, the minimum raise that you can make in pre-flop is twice the size of the big blind, also referred to as a 2X raise, where the X is a shorthand for the multiplication symbol. So 2X the big blind means two times the big blind. 2-1/2X the big blind is two and a half times the big blind. So here we have blinds of $25 and $50. If I were to raise to 3 times the big blind, I would make it 3 times $50 or $150. A standard raise pre-flop is anywhere from two big blinds all the way up to ten big blinds, depending on the game. However, it's very common to see raises of two big blinds, two and a half big blinds, even two and a quarter big blinds or three big blinds or four big blinds. Those are the amounts you're going to see the overwhelming majority of the time. The key is that when you're raising pre-flop, that you stick with an amount and you stay with it. So if I'm going to raise to $125 pre-flop, which is two and a half times the big blind, then I'm going to raise two and a half times the big blind consistently. That way I don't give my opponents any information. If I sometimes make it three times the big blind at $150, and then other times I only minimum raise and make it $100 and still make it other times I raise 4X and make it $200, well then I have differing raise sizes which means I'm going to fall into a pattern over time of raising certain amounts with certain kinds of hands. I may raise more with strong hands that I'm trying to protect or I may raise less with strong hands to try to get action. But it's very common for people to fall into some kind of pattern where they play their strong hands a certain way and their weaker hands a different way. This pattern can be exploited by your opponents. So what I strongly encourage you to do is to raise a consistent amount every single time, whatever the multiple of the big blind might be. On the flop, turn, and river, it works a little bit differently because there are no blinds which are forced bets so now your opponent would have had to make a bet first in order for you to have an opportunity to raise, and you can't control their bet amount so it's not a known entity like with the blinds. That means that you're going to have to act with regard of the size of their bet. Your opponents will typically be betting based on the size of the pot, somewhere between half the pot, all the way up to the full pot. And when you raise them, I strongly suggest your raise three times whatever their previous total wager was. So let's say you have a pot with $475 in it. And your opponent makes a bet, and let's say they bet $300. Well, if they bet $300, raising 3 times that amount would be three times $300 or $900. So if I was going to raise this $300, I would make it $900. A raise post-flop of three times your opponent's previous total wager is going to be very effective at putting them to a meaningful decision. Sometimes there may be situations where you're raising more, and there may be situations where you're raising less, as far as a multiple of their bet. The key is that you're consistent, so you can prevent your opponents from attaining information from you about your hand based on the way you bet or raise.

Now, when it comes to potty training your parrot, the thing you need to realize is that birds are wild animals. They're going to poop every 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the species. So, the first thing you got to do is get out of your mind that you're going to have a perfect potty train that'll never poop on anything. Because no matter how good of a job you do, accidents will still happen. So, stock up on good cleaning supplies: a wetvac, a mop, anything you can use to clean your parrots nest is good. The less of a big deal you make about the parrot making a mess, the less you're going to encourage any of that type of behavior. Another strategy is to keep the parrot on parrot-approved places, like this tree right here. The bottom is made to be easy to clean. So, if the parrots spent a lot of their time on parrot places instead of on human furniture, you're less likely to have a mess throughout your house. Part of the strategy for keeping your parent on parrot-approved places is to do a lot of training, like the tricks we've been going over. If you teach your parrots tricks on their training arches and trees, they're more familiar with spending time on those places and their more likely to go over to them when they're out and about. Now, when it comes to actually the potty training process, you can't really do it the same way that you teach normal tricks such as clicking and giving a treat. That's known to make parrots hold it in for too long and that can actually hurt their digestive system. So, instead, it's important to encourage the parrot to poop on it's designated places but not mandate it. So, the strategy is to realize how long between poops that your bird goes. If you realize that you have a small bird and it goes every five minutes, that's going to be the number you go for. The bigger bird might be half an hour. But these guys, maybe about 15 minutes. So, what Im going to do, when I want to just spend time with my bird, I want to have him on my shoulder, on me, I will hold them and make sure that I'm not spending more than the allotted time between when they go to do their business. So, I might pick up the bird and hold it for ten minutes. Knowing that they're going to poop in 15. Play with them, do whatever I want to do with my pet. Then, I'm going to go and put them back down on their stand after ten minutes elapses. Now, I'm going to wait five minutes until they finally take their poop, whatever that comes out to. And as soon as they do, I'm going to make a big deal. Be like "Wow, that was very good! That's great!" And I'll come back over and pick up the bird and spend more time with it again. And then ten minutes goes by. I feel like a next poop is due. Before it can happen, I'll put her back down on the perch and wait until she does it. After you do this for a couple weeks or months, your parrot will catch on that the sooner they do their business when they're put down, the sooner you'll pick them up and keep spending time with them. So, they learn to naturally do more of they're business around their perches instead of on you or on unapproved human furniture areas. If your parrot wings aren't clip and they're flighted, they can even learn to fly back to they're stand when they need to go, which is really convenient if you lose track of timing. If they're familiar and accustomed to pooping on their stand, they'll fly over when they need to go. The last thing you can do to encourage your parrot do it's business on it's poopy perch is when you take it out first thing in the morning, put it down on it's perch and wait until it's goes. Most parrots hold it in at night and they have to go really bad in the morning and they try to avoid going in their cages. So, as soon as you take them out, put them right down on their poopy perch and let them go. And after they're done, you can pick them up and do your normal routine with them. This way, they learn to go to that designated place and to hold it in until you put them down and it's time to do it. So, that's some tips for you about potty training your parrot.

Jungle Bob is here to show you that owning a pet reptile or amphibian is not as complicated as you might think. In this video, he shares four tips about caring for a pixie frog. A lot of people come in to buy pets, they want that wow factor pet, and they're looking for a frog that's easy to keep while often pointing to a Pixie or a South African bullfrog. I do that because, I do it with a smirk on my face, because I'm going to see them a lot in the future, because these little guys here do one thing well, and that's eat. There's a misnomer in the amphibian world, and that is frogs eat nothing but flies. We often see pictures in kid's books and frogs smiling happily, shooting flies out of the air with their elongated tongues This is not true. Frogs are predators, frogs have teeth in their mouth, and they'll just about anything. And a little, baby Pixie frog like this, in about a year or two, will turn into a monster like this. Everybody, meet Jabba, we call him Jabba, the African Bullfrog. The African bullfrog, or Pixie frog, is a true predator, that will eat just about anything that gets in front of him. We've seen him eat fish, we've seen him pick birds that fell out of their nest. Once in a while, he'll eat a snake, a lizard, anything that he can get his formidable mouth on, he will grab. He does not shoot his tongue, that's a mistake. People think frogs shoot their tongues way up into the air to catch flies that go by. You think Jabba is living on flies here? No, flies are really hard to catch for an animal his size, and we'd have to feed him a thousand of them a day to maintain that body weight. So, instead, he sits there, burns no calories, and waits for food to be deposited. So, therefore, if he's in a terrarium, wow, what a great animal, because no matter what you drop in front of him, he's going to make a meal out of it. It's extremely animated and a lot of fun to watch, and the variety of foods, anything you could find, even something you find outside in the garden, you drop in front of Jabba and down the chute it goes. So, the African bullfrog is a wonder of the pet world these days. You need a pretty good size tank for a guy this big, they will get 2/12 to 3 pounds in size. The African bullfrog.

A few, this one is called a Jersey Wally, this one is a Rex the grey one, this one is a Flemish Giant, this one is a New Zealand White and we have here a little buddy called a Lion Head and next to him is a Netherlands Dwarf. We actually DE-emphasize breeds when people are adopting bunnies we always tell them no matter how beautiful the rabbit, no matter how much you love the breed, the thing to pay attention to really is the personality. And I told Amy once that is kind of like when you are dating a guy that is just really gorgeous and you find out that the personality isn't there, you don't care about the looks after a while it is very, very interesting. I had somebody come into my apartment one time to adopt only a Lap rabbit. The Lap rabbits are the ones that have the down ears. We don't have a Lap rabbit here but they have the ears that go down like a Cocker Spaniels and this lady came in and she said she only wanted consider a Lap and I had a couple of Laps and she loved one of them and started righting the adoption papers to take him home. But every time she went by this other rabbits cage the rabbit would stick his head out and look at her and try to make eye contact with her and after a couple of minutes she said you know Mary I think this rabbits trying to tell me something . So I said I think he is too , why don't you put down the Lap ear rabbit and go over and talk to that rabbit. And long story short she did and ended up adopting that second rabbit and the rabbit was definitely reaching out to her. It wasn't a breed she was interested in but the personality was so out going and so affectionate and she just loved him to pieces. So, we always tell people look at the different breeds for sure, we get all breeds into shelters all the time but go by the personality. It is much more Speaker 2: But normally you wouldn't put a bunch of rabbits together like this because they always don't get along, right? Speaker 1: Thanks for saying that, this is a challenge to have all these rabbits together on the same table . We have male, male, next to each other female, female next to each other that's not an easy thing to do in the rabbit world. Were really careful about putting rabbits together and we're just doing this to give an idea of different breeds. We want to make sure that we stay safe here. Speaker 2: Wow. Speaker 1: We are keeping the rabbits from each other for that reason. Speaker 2: Look at all the different coats. Speaker 1: Look at all the hair flying in the air from all these different coats. Speaker 2: Rabbit breeds.

Gentlemen, when we're leading the ladies in bachata, first off if you're dancing in open position, make sure that your arms are nice and relaxed, your palms are facing up and you're not gripping the ladies with your thumb. Very important, her hands are resting on your hands, and when you're doing the basic you keep this lead throughout, until you're ready to move to a different move or go to a different side. So we're going to start with the basic. One, two, three tap. Five, six, seven tap. Notice I'm not putting my thumbs into place, unless there's something that I need to tell her. Here I'm going to slide into closed position and my hand position changes. From here when you switch your hand position, make sure you have a little grip on the ladies. So that you can use this grip to lead her, either forward or back, by taking your whole posture to the front. Nice and firm and hold it in the middle. One, two, three tap. Five, six and seven. Gentlemen, make sure that when you're leading your ladies left and right, you're actually using the upper body, your torso to push to the left, bring it in, push left and tap. And don't forget gentlemen, you can move your hip as well and the opposite of going the other way. So now you bring your hands inside. In, out, in tap. Out, in, out tap. In, out, in tap. So let me show you this gentlemen, your rib cage is going left and right as you're leading, and this also allow the ladies, since they're connected to us kind of like imaginary cables through our shoulders here, the ladies are going to be connected, so if we move our torso to the left, here torso goes to her right, and we end up going in the same direction. Gentlemen, make sure that when you switch the hand position your body language switches as well. For example, here we're nice and tight, our posture is straight, we're supporting the ladies, but then when we get to open position, you're more relaxed. You feel more relaxed, more confident. You can use your arms a little bit more, your shoulders. And when you're leading the turns gentlemen, make sure that you're leading properly, giving the ladies the cues, no matter which way you're going. Now I'm going to demonstrate some of these tips with the music. Let's start in closed position. So Gentlemen, notice our torso and now a different lead, forward and back. The torso is actually still doing the work, but you're just going linear, rather than to a side and now the hold in the middle. So here gentlemen, you want to be nice and relaxed. More shoulders, a little bit of hip. And when you're getting ready to lead the ladies, don't forget to give her the cue by bringing the arm up, and she's ready to turn, and at the end of the turn gentlemen, it's always a good leading tip to gather the ladies arm, all right? We can go into closed position and repeat the whole thing again and that is leading tips for men in bachata.

So we just discussed and showed a truck into what's called a banana split. Now through that transition, I discussed and explained a little bit on what's known as a calf slicer. I'd like to just go over that again and add some more detail. So let's start again on attacking the turtle and entering into the truck, but focusing on attacking that leg. Let's do that. Okay. So arms in turtle. And I have my hook. And same thing, it's not working. So right here. Now let's talk about attacking this leg. I can engage, I really want to hold onto close by the toes, not really by the ankle here. Right here. Now I can also do two in one. It doesn't have to be each leg. I can focus on just one leg. As I sit, I want to place this foot on my foot here, on my heel. Okay. And as I sit back, I can push a little bit with my weight and pull in. Okay. Now I have my submission there. Now if my opponent rolls, because it is quite painful, I'm going to follow my partner. And sometimes I can't get the banana split. So you see this position I'm laying here? Now same caution. I do not want to expose my arm. See, I have the submission right there, so it's quite dangerous. So if you can't do the banana split, we can still attack with this calf slicer. Just need to make sure that I don't expose my elbow. And I stay with the same details, controlling the toes, pushing off with my foot, and pulling in. Let's do that again. Okay. Have the hook in. . I hook and turn and face my target. Two on one in this case. I sit back. I make sure I'm controlling the toes. And I place my foot right here. And I sit back and pull. If he rolls, I move with him. Make sure I'm not exposing the arm. The submission there. And I apply the same submission. And that is a calf slicer off of our truck sequence.

Kristina: And I'm Kristina. Aaron: And we are professional dance instructors here in New York City, and today we're going to bringing you a series based on the waltz. Kristina: So the first step we're going to do is the box step which is like the most common foundational step for everything you're going to learn in the waltz. So just a couple of things really quickly. The waltz is a smooth dance, which means it travels around the room in a counter-clockwise direction, so if you're ever anywhere where there are people dancing, just kind of take note of the direction that they're going and make sure you join in and go that same direction. So we're going to start this pattern side by side. We're both going to begin with our left foot going forward. The girls just note that generally you will generally be starting this on your right foot going backward. So we're going to take our left foot. We have one step forward, one. Step to the side with your right foot, two. Close your left foot to your right foot, three. And then go ahead and take a step back on the right, side left, close right foot to left foot. So we have one, two, three, one two, three. And so a note for this, if you've ever seen waltz dancing, there is a rise and fall to this dance, so the downbeat is on one so we're going to call it, in its most basic terms, going forward, down, up, up, down, up, up. And that's just a really basic way to kind of get you familiar with the rise and fall of the waltz. You can kind of try to add that in. So let's dance this with a partner. So we're going to take our traditional dance hold, palm to palm, and then girls you're going to take your right hand and place it just below the shoulder. Gentlemen your left hand will be in her palm, right hand will be on her shoulder blade. So, another important note. When you set up, be slightly offset. So girls think about stepping slightly to the left. Guys, think about having her slightly to her right. That way you won't hit feet when you try to dance. So we have one, two, three, one, two, three, one, two, three. We can also take this basic step and we can rotate it to the left a little bit, so we'll show you that right now. And one, two, three, one, two, three, one, two, three, one, two, three. Now let's try that to some music.

I'm with Chess NYC, and I'm going to talk to you today about pawn structures. While there are multiple pawn structures that are very important to know, there are five basics that are "need-to-know". So, let's start off with the pawn chain. To begin, we have what's called a pawn chain: we have a diagonal set of pawns; each pawn in this pawn chain is protecting one another. This is extremely important in terms of creating an attack. You always want to have your pawn chain directed towards the king. If the king is castled over on this side of the board, this is where you want your pawn structure going, instead of having your pawn chain running off the side of the board. Not so happy. Additionally, the top pawn is the strongest pawn in the pawn chain, the bottom is the weakest. If you're playing on black, you want to attack the bottom of the pawn chain. The idea behind the pawn chain is that it controls a lot of space and it's going toward the king, creating an attack. Another important pawn structure that is a need-to-know is called "double pawns". Double pawns have both good and bad elements to them. One element that is very good about double pawns is they control a lot of space. Double pawns can control up to five squares - one, two, three, four, five. In chess, we want to control space. Double pawns can control a lot of space. However, there is a weakness to double pawns. This pawn right back here is not protected by any other pawns, therefore this pawn is considered weak. Additionally, this pawn is also considered "stuck in traffic," meaning it can't move unless the pawn in front of it moves first. Another important pawn structure that we need to know is called the "isolated pawn", or "lonely pawn". This is not a favorable pawn structure. This pawn is sitting all by itself. When we have a pawn that's like this sometimes we have to have a queen or another, bigger piece defending and babysitting this pawn. I don't want my queen babysitting an isolated pawn. I want my pieces going ahead and making checkmate, and not defending an isolated pawn. This pawn is considered a weakness, and it is easy for black to attack. An even more unfavorable pawn position is "double isolated pawns". Additionally, these two pawns are extremely weak. Neither one of them can protect one another. This pawn is also considered stuck in traffic. It cannot move forward unless the pawn in front of it moves forward, and these are relatively hard to defend. A bishop cannot defend both of these pawns at the same time. A knight can also not defend both of these pawns at the same time. It's also hard, unless a rook is in between them, to defend them at the same time. We have to use a queen or a king to defend the two pawns at the same time. However, the last pawn structure I want to talk about is called a "passed pawn". Passed pawn is one of the most important pawn structures that we need to know, because this pawn is on its way to becoming a queen. A passed pawn is a pawn that has passed all of your enemy's pawns and is on its way to becoming a queen - by getting to the end of the board - or any other piece that you choose. When you have passed pawn, it is very important to sit and babysit this pawn. So therefore you can get it to the end of the board and it can become a queen or any other piece that you choose. And that is all I have to tell you about important pawn structures.

Hula Hoop Across the Chest Roll | Hula Hooping

Watch more How to Hula Hoop videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/512743-Hula-Hoop-Across-the-Chest-Roll-Hula-Hooping For our across the chest roll we're going to start the same way as we would do our across the back roll. The hoop is in my right hand. My grip is nice and loose. I just have my first two fingers making a loop. My other fingers are just cradling the hoop. And it's keep making a nice flat plane in front of my body. So, I've got the hoop hanging. Vertical plane in my right hand. What a lot of people tend to do when they learn this trick is they learn to do a toss. Or they toss and bend this arm and bring the hoop to their chest. It's not necessarily cheating. It just looks better if we do a true roll when the hoop is making contact with your arm all the way across your chest to the other hand. So, arm is nice and straight. Level with my shoulder. Slightly in front of my shoulder and my left arm is out to the side ready to receive. So, palm is nice and loose. I'm going to bring the hoop up gently and then press my palm down as I release. I'm going to show this again. So, that's how we start the roll. Now, whenever we want to roll across our chest it's very effective to lean way back and really open up your throat and your chest to the sky. If you try to look at the hoop it looks a little congested and awkward. And it's not as pretty. So, you're going to drop your head back, lean way back and allow the hoop to roll across your chest. It's also helpful to turn your head and look towards your receiving hand. It'll look nicer. So, as the hoop approaches my shoulder I'm going to lean back. Look towards my left hand and have that hand ready, open palm up, to receive the hoop. So, let's try this all together. There we go. And that's how we do an across the chest roll.

You want to be able to master ball handling, fundamental ball handling skills, fingertip control, because as a small guy, if you can get anywhere on the court with the basketball that you want, that'll make you an asset to your team. Secondly, you want to work on becoming as good a shooter as you can possibly be, because then that will give you an advantage to be able to score anywhere on the court. You don't want to be a small guy, and can't shoot the basketball, because now you're limiting your ability to help your team offensively. So if you can work on becoming a good shooter, from short-range, mid-range, and long-range, that will also enable you to be more of an asset to your team. Then finally basketball IQ. The shorter you are you want to have a high basketball IQ, because that will enable you to out think other opponents on the court. You want to be your teams quarterback, you want to be able to out think anybody on the court, you want to be able to understand coach's strategies. So now when you're on the court you can be an extension of your coach. So those three things again for small players, you want to be a great ball handler, a very good shooter and have a high basketball IQ.

What to Expect on Your Driver's Test | Driving Lessons

Watch more How to Drive videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/500662-What-to-Expect-on-Your-Drivers-Test-Driving-Lessons So, the subject today is what to expect on your driver's test. And before we get into some of the actual test, what I want to tell you is to make sure you're on time and to make sure you have the proper documents that you need. You have to have your learner's permit, and your pre-licensing class certificate, and the driver that brings you there has to have their driver's license, the car registration, and the insurance card. If you don't have any of those documents you will not be given the test. So you don't want to waste your time by going there without that. Now, what do we expect to do actually on the test? And the test is comprised of a series of turns and two maneuvers. You're going to do some right turns, and you're going to do some left turns across traffic. And then you're going to have to execute what we call a broken U-turn. Which means bringing your car from the right side, across to the other side of the street, backing up, and then going back the other way. And then finally, you'll have to do a parallel parking, which means bringing the car alongside of another vehicle and backing it into the space. It isn't real difficult. The whole test takes about ten minutes. So hopefully what I've outlined here are some good, solid ways on knowing what to expect and how to execute it and hopefully it will get you through and help you to pass your driver's test.

Right? Although they're these hideous creatures that everybody's afraid of, they are extremely fragile. Their exoskeleton is thin in certain areas, particularly in the abdomen. The legs, in particular, again, they're not pliable at all and the least little bit of pressure could actually break them. So gentle is the word. People sometimes say, 'Jungle Bob, you're so rough with your animals.' But when I'm picking up a tarantula like the Palomino Blond I know is not going to bite me, I simply cup the animal and put my hands underneath his legs. And this way he's cradled. I'm not smashing down on him. That would be a fatal event for the tarantula. So that's how you could easily pick up a tarantula like this. Even though his fangs are right against my fingers, I know he's not an aggressive species and have to worry about that. Certainly, if he's walking along, the best way to pick him up is to coax him. By putting your hand in front of him, give him a little nudge on his abdomen and he will just gently walk where you want him to go. That's more maneuvering than it is handling him for sure. And lastly, if a tarantula's got a good enough size it's fairly simple to, again, this is his abdomen and this is the head thorax, between the middle legs, like right between the two sides of his legs, you can gently grab his head thorax area and pick him up. That's not harming him any. You're in between legs two and three, if you will, on one side and two and three on the other side. And pick him up by grasping the body. That's the sturdiest part of the tarantula and that doesn't bother him at all. Now again, handling tarantulas. They're a species that like to flick their hairs off that I don't like to pick up at all. Because even though you can pick them up gently enough they're going to be kicking the legs on their abdomen. You're going to have a mess on your face. Tarantula hair all over the place. Why bother? I coax them along. I push them along. I usually don't pick them up in that method. Nor do I want to cup them because their hairs come off of there. Agonizingly irritating. So know your species, again. But if you want to pick him up, those are the methods to do so without harming the animal, which the most important thing. And without getting bitten, which is a pretty good idea too.

When you're loosening and tightening your bow, this is the screw that you use. And when you loosen your bow, you want it to be about that loose. Not too loose. I'll loosen it a lot. See, that's too much, because then when you put it back in your case, some of the hairs could fall out or, you know, break. So about this loose, right there, where they're sort of wiggly, but not too wiggly. And to loosen it, you turn the screw counter-clockwise, and to tighten it, you turn the screw clockwise. Now when you tighten the bow and you're getting ready to play, you want it to be not too tight and not too loose. You can see if it's too tight or too loose by using a pencil as a guide. Okay. At the tip of the bow, the pencil should not touch either the stick or the hair. That's correct. As you get to the middle of the bow, it should touch. But it's not touching, as you can see. So this is too tight. And then as you come out, it should not touch again, which is correct. So now let me show you the proper bow tightening. So I'm loosening it, I'm turning it counter-clockwise, and now let's see if it will work. It does not touch anything over here. Then, when you bring the pencil to the middle, it is touching both the hair and the stick. That's good. And then as you come out it does not touch, and that's good as well. So that's how you loosen and tighten the screws of your bow for the optimal sound on your instrument. Now, rosin, R-O-S-I-N, this is rosin. It comes in all different shades. Green, this is green. It's sort of a sticky rosin, but there's also lighter ones that are not as sticky. I tend to like this even more. This gives you the sound on the hairs. Without rosin, you're not going to hear anything. However, you don't want to put too much rosin on. When you take your violin out everyday, and your bow, you just put a little bit at the frog and then you drag it, so watch, like so. A little bit at the frog, then you drag it up to the tip, and do a little bit at the tip, then you go back to the frog, a little bit at the frog, and then you go back to the tip, a little bit to the tip, and that's it. You don't want to do too much. Now you have a perfectly rosined bow. And that's how you rosin your bow.

I'm tied in as a climber, Chaz is clipped in here is the belayer, we've already done our safety checks, I'm ready to start, and while I'm climbing, I'm going to give you five tips for how to lead climb, and how to do so effectively and efficiently. One good tip is before you start climbing, to take some time and really try to identify the route. What I mean by that is to try to look for critical spots on the route where maybe you'll get a good rest or maybe some difficult cliffs. You'll notice another tip is that when you're clipping, you want to be doing so from a balanced position with a straight arm. Having these straight arms to make those cliffs is a great way to conserve energy. As I move up a little farther, you'll notice my arm still stays straight clipping. I'm making that clip with a straight arm, and at this point, I'm pretty comfortable, I've good footholds, and I'm on a big jump hold, so I can shake out my arms a little bit to try to get some of that lactic acid out of there. I'll do the same with my other arm. This type of move, shaking out, can really help you to recover while you're climbing. Another pointer is when to chalk up. So right now if I'm moving into a difficult sequence, I might want to chalk up before I go through it, so timing your chalk ups, when to do it, how often to do it, is something you want to consider. So, on a similar note, while timing your chalking up, to make sure you're not doing it excessively, but just kind of as needed, a good idea is to try to identify a crux of the route, which is the most difficult section, or where you expect to have the most trouble, and rather than stopping in the middle to chalk up, or maybe try to make a clip from an awkward position, try to push through that crux, identify the sequence, chalk, prepare yourself, get a good rest and shake out, and move straight through that crux Another tip would be that while I'm climbing, if I'm so scared of falling the whole time, it's going to make me over grip, which means squeezing a lot harder than I need to be, and putting a lot of weight on my arm that doesn't need to be there. I want to keep it on my feet. So a great tip for lead climbing, is to get comfortable falling. You're going to climb a whole lot better if you're not scared to fall. It'll also make it a lot easier to commit to some of those bigger moves. So those are some tips that are really good for lead climbing to help you move efficiently and effectively.

Would you help me out with this card trick? Ann: Sure. Ben: Great. Go ahead and pick any card you'd like. I won't look. All right. Would you do me a favor, just take a look at it. Look at it, look at the camera. Show it to the camera. Memorize it. Picture it. Every detail. Do you have it? Ann: Mm hmm. Ben: Excellent. Put it right there on top. I'll shuffle it up into the deck. Do me a favor, Ann. Would you hold out your hand, just like that for me? Good. I want you to pinch the deck, just like that. Just like that with your knuckles. Good. And I just want you to hold on to the deck. Not too hard. Try not to let go, though. You don't have to hold it too hard. You can let your thumb go. Just, yeah, just hold it just like that for me. Okay? Ann: Mm hmm. Ben: Nice and square. Hold on. Square up the deck. Good? Ann: Mm hmm. Ben: Good. Just like that. Are you ready? Ann: Mm hmm. Ben: I want you to just picture your card, all right. Really focus on it. I'm not going to do anything to you surprising. I'm not gonna try to. Ann: Wow. Ben: Didn't mean to shock you there. Ann: Amazing. Ben: This is actually, this is probably one of the most impressive effects you can do with not all that much complicated slight. First thing you have to do is you actually have get the card to the bottom of the deck. If you'll remember when Ann drew a card, I actually just had her place it right back on top. Show it to the camera real quick, four of spades. Now, using the overhand shuffle control, I'm actually able to guarantee that the four of spades will end up right back on the bottom of the deck. Once it's on the bottom of the deck, you're pretty much good to go. You ask them to hold their fingers. You ask them basically to take the deck from you the same way that you're holding it. That's a good way to get them to take it in the same position without kind of, you know, readjusting their fingers. So do me a favor, just take it just like I'm holding it. Perfect. Now, believe it or not, just a confident smack onto the deck will pretty much knock all the cards out of her hand except for the last one. Ann, I didn't tell you what was going to happen. You did not know that that was going to happen. That card just happened to be in your hand after the slap. That card and that card alone. Correct? By being timid with the smack, what's going to happen is you're actually not going to hit all the cards out. They're only going to slide about half of them down. And then she's going to be left with a third of the deck, or a half of the deck, or a fourth of the deck, whatever, and you're going to have to keep smacking. So basically what's happening with the smack here is, as I'm smacking down on the deck, you really want to make sure you're getting a really good downward motion because that's going to cause all the cards to slide, literally, off of the bottom one. And Ann, she's already told us she did not know to prepare for this. She was not trying to hold on to that card. She didn't even know I was going to slap them. But the slap really does work. And it's a great effect. It's very impressive to the spectator when they're left with their card staring them in the face.

We'll start with what is usually the most difficult part for a beginner, and that would be actually getting on the highway. The reason that's more difficult is because the cars that are already on the highway are going at a greater speed than you are merging in. This is where the use of the lane to merge becomes most important. You have to use that lane to build up your speed and try to get your speed up so that then it would be easier to blend in with the cars that are already on the highway. So, you don't want to come to the end of that merge lane and then stop. At that point it will be very difficult to get on. You have to use the merging lane to accelerate, build up your speed, and keep checking your mirror on the left and turning your head to make sure you've got a good safe distance to merge onto. Then, when that occurs you move onto the highway. Once you get on the highway my recommendation is that the best lane to usually drive in would be the middle lane. The left lane is generally used for passing. The problem with staying in the right lane is that you've got to deal with those cars getting on the highway at every single exit. So, my recommendation is stay in the middle lane. The speed is greater on the highway which means that things can happen much more quickly, so that space is so important in highway driving. You need to have space in front of the car and behind the car, to the left and right at all times. If you're going to make a lane change you're going to do so by putting your signal on and indicating the way you want to make that pass whether it be to the right or to the left. Then you're going to look and make sure it's real safe to do so. Then move your car from one lane to the other. When is a good time to get back into the lane that we came from? The answer to that is that we need to see the vehicle that we passed in our rear view mirror. When you can see that entire vehicle in the rear view mirror it is then okay to move back to that right lane. So, those are some tips that you can use if you want to have some safe, comfortable highway driving.

Jungle Bob is here to show you that owning a pet reptile or amphibian is not as complicated as you might think. In this video, he shares five tips about caring for a red-eyed tree frog. Tree Frogs are very popular pets in the reptile and amphibian hobby, and there are some easy ones to keep, like Dumpy frogs and Green Tree frogs. But if you get bored with those species, it's time to move on to the big game, and that is red-eyed tree frogs. Red-eyed tree frogs are beautiful terrarium subjects. I mean, they're one of our favorites as far as observing them in your terrarium, but they're more for the advanced keeper, in that they are extremely fragile. Just taking a look at some of the skinny little legs on these guys and the very narrow bodies can tell you right off the bat that they are not really the easiest things to keep. They can leap tremendous distances, as you just saw, but it's really more the temperature, the humidity is something you really have to pay attention to when you keep these things in your terrarium. We have a different word these days for terrariums and that is a vivarium, and that's where I would keep my red-eyed tree frogs. A vivarium is different. A vivarium has the substrate or the bedding where the animal comes from. It has plants, hopefully live plants if you could afford it and find a good source for them, throughout the enclosure. But in red-eyed tree frog world, which is a rainforest creature, you have to keep this thing wet, not just moist, I mean wet. Six months out of the year it's got to be soaking wet. So, we often put fog machines, waterfalls, misting systems like you see in the supermarket that mist the vegetables. Something like that that can keep the animal humid. Without humidity, frogs will vanish quickly. So, the red-eyed tree frog is a wonderful vivarium subject, but something not for the beginner. A mistake, even a couple of days of wrong humidity, could be the end of the frog. So, you got to do your homework before buying one of these. And always we try to stress getting them from captive-bred sources. That gives you the most healthy animal out there. The red-eyed tree frog, one of our favorites.

And handling the ball with speed is good because it makes it more difficult for the defender to steal the ball from you. So right now we'll walk through a couple of quick drills that we use on a regular basis that help us to handle the ball faster. First ting we want to do is work on a particular drill and then you want to try to go for speed in it. Right now we have one of our coaches, Jerry, who's gonna time us on these particular drills. Right now Sammy will go for 15 seconds and what'll we'll do right now is he's gonna do his first set for 15 seconds and then we'll have him do a second set to see if he can increase his speed as far ball handling. So right now, Sammy will get nice and low. He's gonna cross over and go behind his back. Every time the ball gets to his right hand, he's gonna count the rep. So I'll count for him right now. Jerry when you tell me to go, we'll go. Jerry: Ready, go! Jason: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Alright. So Sammy did eight in 15 seconds. So now he has a goal where every time he works out he has a point of emphasis in the base as far as trying to exceed his time. Now I'll try to do something a little bit more advanced with the advanced ball handlers. And remember, everything that we do I'm gonna try to do with my eyes closed and head up. Jerry'll give me 30 seconds on this. Jerry: Ready, go! Jason: One, two, three, four, five, I lose it, I come right back. Eyes closed, chin up. Six. Jerry: Stop. Jason: Alright? So I got to about six and a half. So right now we'll have Sammy finish up to see if he can do it any faster than he did his first set. So again Sammy will have his eyes closed, chin up. He'll get low. Eight is his number to beat. 15 seconds. Jerry: Ready, go! Jason: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Jerry: Stop. Jason: Alright. So you see? Now, Sammy worked on his ball handling. He was able to get ten. Those are the types of drills that you can do on a regular basis in order to be come a faster ball handler.

We're going to teach you a couple of them. The first one we're going to talk about is the bachata heel break. So we're going to put out our heels, on the fours and the eights. Five, six, seven, eight. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. The idea behind the heel is to make sure that your heel is nice and sharp on that break, just as if you were doing a tap. Daniela: And ladies, make sure when you do your heel tap forward, you have your legs closed. We don't want to do one, two, three, heel, okay? It's right in front of you. Edwin: Now for the next break, this one is a tap in the back. We're going to use the toe to either tap across or behind. We're going to show you different ways, so make sure you that you explore however you feel more comfortable. Five, six, seven and one, two, three, tap, five, six, seven, tap. One, two, three, tap, five, six, seven, tap. One, two, three, tap. Five, six, seven, tap. That's going to be the tap behind. Remember you can put it right behind you or you can send it across, depending on how you feel. Make sure you do it with confidence and smooth. The next break is going to be the scoop. The scoop is going to be picking up your foot. Gentlemen, what we're going to do is just lift it up, like this. Daniela: And ladies, we're going to scoop up, so as soon as your toe hits the floor that's when you bring it up. Make sure you don't kick it out. Edwin: Let's try it. Five, six, seven, eight and one, two, three, up, five, six, seven, up. One, two, three, up. Five, six, seven, up and one, two, three, up. Five, six, seven, up. Now for those of you who are interested in getting better as performers, make sure that you always point your feet down. If you keep your feet like this, of course it's an option, but make sure that if you want to develop good habits, always point your feet down. Now we're going to do the last one, which is the shuffle behind. This one is a little bit more complicated, so I want you to pay attention slowly. Five, six, seven, eight and one, two, three shuffle, five, six, seven, shuffle one, two, three, shuffle five, six, seven and shuffle. So what's happening here is we're going to take three steps one, two and three. On the fourth step we're going to quickly alternate our feet, right/left, and then continue to the right for five, six, seven. And do the same thing on the other side, left/right. Let's try it a little bit faster. Five, six, seven, eight and one, two, three shuffle. Five, six, seven, one, two, three shuffle, five, six, seven shuffle one. Now let's demonstrate all these breaks with music, so here we have the heel, then we have the tap behind and remember, you can cross it behind or send it straight back, depending on your choice. The next one is the scoop and gentlemen, of course you can scoop as well, gentlemen. But for us it's more natural to just bring the knee up. And the last one is the shuffle behind. Shuffle, one and those are your bachata breaks.

How to Do a Brooklyn Accent | Accent Training

Watch more How to Do an Accent videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/500483-How-to-Do-a-Brooklyn-Accent-Accent-Training Learn how to do a Brooklyn accent from voice and speech coach Andrea Caban in this Howcast video. [Background Music] There are so many different types of people who live in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is an amazing place because of that. So we're going to go for a very stereotypical, general Brooklyn accent. Just to give you a flavor of it. So you put your lip corners really far forward. And it's a very urban sound. You see? In my oral posture that my lips are doing a lot of the work. It's also fun to notice that the Brooklyn accent, where your lip corner's very far forward, is also very similar to that urban London sound. That cockney sound. So Saul's daughter studied law. You'll notice that it's a very similar shape in the mouth. Let's look at some sound changes for the Brooklyn accent. So there are no r's at the ends of some words. So like, there, player, flatter become theah, playah, flattah. And the ah sound in thought, dog, and law become a diphthong. So they become a two element sound. For thought, dog, law. Sometimes that th sound, thin, thick, this, that become very dentalized. So it's thin, thick, this, that. So you hear those hard, flat sounds. The back of the teeth. Thin. Thick. This. That. You start to hear the musicality of the accent. T's are very dentalized. So they're very pushed up against the teeth. So Tony takes his time becomes Tony takes his time. Do you hear the difference there? Tony takes his time, and Tony takes his time. The st sound in stretch becomes stretch. I love that one. So what's the musicality of this general Brooklyn accent? Well it's a very urban sound, like we'd said. It's got a lot of power to it. You use emphasis with volume, and less with pitch variety. But don't take my word for. Go listen to some native Brooklyn speakers, and let the accent reveal itself to you.

Check out the official app http://apple.co/1HCxrup Watch more How to Play Poker videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/515015-Poker-Etiquette-Poker-Tutorials Hey, I'm professional poker player Nicky Numbers and I'm going to talk to you today about poker etiquette, most importantly, what not to do at the table. The first thing I'm going to talk about is how you bet, how you call, and how you raise. Let's say you have some chips in front of you; so you're at the table playing, you've got your nice stacks and you want to make a bet or you want to make a call or you want to make a raise, well how you put your chips into the pot is incredible important. What you don't want to do is this, where the chips that you put out have now gone right into the middle of the pot. This is called splashing the pot and it's terribly bad poker etiquette. The reason it's such awful etiquette is because it completely confuses the game. I don't know how many chips you put out, if you were making a bet or a raise, we don't know how much it was, if you were making a call it's difficult to confirm that you called the correct amount. You're going to often force the dealer to have to recreate the entire hand just to see how many chips should be in the pot and how many chips are in the pot in order to figure out what chips went into the pot and which chips are suppose to be part of a bet, raise, or call. Rather than splash the pot, what you want to do is put your chips out in front of you where they can't hit any other player's chips or the pot itself. So, for example, if I was going to bet that same amount I could just put them in front of me like that or I could neatly stack them in front of me like this. Either way is fine, the key is that you don't want your chips to encounter any other obstacles at the table involving other chips. The next thing I'm going to talk to you about has to do with showing the winning hand. Let's say I'm dealt two cards, we've had some betting go on, and now I'm all in. You call me and I wait, I don't show my hand right away, except that I have two Aces. I know for a fact that I have the best possible hand pre-flop, I know I have the winner, yet I paused and made you sweat. I made you sweat and potentially think that your hand might be good. I deliberately allowed you to believe that you were more likely to have a winning hand or the best hand at the moment than you actually were. That's called a slow roll and it doesn't only happen when I'm the person that bets or raise. When you call a bet or raise, especially on the river, if you know that it's very likely that you have the winning hand just table it. If you or your opponent is all in and you know that you are likely to have the winning hand just table it. The only time you should wait for your opponent to show their cards first or to make them wait and sweat is when you're genuinely unsure whether or not you have the winning hand. Splashing the pot, slow rolling your opponents or reacting to or discussing a hand while it's still going on are three great examples of poor poker etiquette.

This game although its not an outstanding game, I am sure he is a pawn and it is quite fearful at the fact that he was playing the world champion or soon to be the world champion at the time. This game illustrates very clearly an important point which is that chess is not just about capturing pieces the name of the game is check mate, that's what we are trying to do check mate our opponent's king and prevent our king from being checkmated and will sacrifice our entire to that end. So from this position and never mind quite how we got here. queen to f7 check, the king only has one move d6 and now the series of sacrifices begin knight to c4, the pawn is cutting off the e5 and c5 so we have to take the knight and then knight to e4, the other knight jumps in check. The king only has one move d5. Now we introduce a new attacking piece the rook, it cannot be taken by the pawn which is pin by the queen so we are forcing black again to take, it could have taken the pawn as well but it take the more valuable knight. Now introduce again a new attacking weapon rook A to e1 check sacrificing pawn now white its in with c3 on check the king has one move d3 and now to end the game we have rook to d5 double check, bishop to f7 double check, checkmate and if we notice white's given up two knights, bishop at nine, ten, eleven twelve points worth a material has only captured five points a material while its the black king that's checkmated. So chess is not just about capturing pieces.

And people want to talk about the various positions you can have, you can choose when you play the game of soccer. And we're basically have the goal keeper. We have the defenders, we have the midfielders and we have the strikers. The goal keeper of course is the first responsibility is to assure that the strikers won't get the ball behind the goal line and actually score. On the second thought the goal keeper would be the first player to initiate the game, to start the game from the back of the defense. The next line is the line of defenders. Again, even more, the responsibility of the defenders would be to mark up the strikers, close gap some defense and prevent the opposition from goal scoring. The next line would be the midfielders. The midfielders are the once who organize the game. They have defense responsibilities but also offense responsibilities. And they organize the game, they make sure that they close the gap in defense, turn around quickly, open the game to the front to the strikers, get the strikers in goal scoring positions and move up themselves or maybe even choose to finish themselves and try to score. The last one, the most front on the field would be the strikers or the forwards. Of course the idea is to get the ball as quickly as possible into the goal, into the net of the opposition. As a defender you have the whole game in front of you. You have more time usually to open the game. You have more time when you have possession of the ball. You want to open it mindfully to the side not to the center. The midfielders are always moving, always trying to open up, giving opportunities, passing options as well to strikers and defenders. The strikers on the other hand usually have the defender in the back where there's a different kind of play. The want to drop the ball maybe to the midfielder to open up the game on the side but then quickly move into goal scoring position themselves and finish. That's the basic idea of soccer positions and I think it's a good way to start.

So, if your parrot is comfortable with the harness material being on or near his body like this, you are going to start to teach it to put its head through the collar. This is really the secret to wearing the harness, is getting the bird to feel like it is participating and volunteering to put it on, rather than having the harness forced on it. So, rather than sticking the harness on your bird, you are going to have the bird stick the harness on itself. If the bird has its own control over the process, then it is nowhere near as scary as having it forced onto it. So, we can go back to our trusty target stick to use the target to target the bird's head to go through the collar, like this. Target. Good boy. Very good. Once your parrot knows how to put it's head through, you just keep practicing where you have him stick his head through the collar, you click, give him the treat, and take it right back off. The whole idea is to show the parrot that the harness is harmless and it's not going to be stuck on it all at once. We are going to build this up in stages. Good boy! This time, I'm going to leave it on a little longer and let him chew his treat while wearing the collar around his neck. I'm still going to hold it, just to make sure that nothing happens, like he can't fly away with it and get hurt. We will take it back off. After a few days to weeks of practicing having the collar go on and off, we are ready to put the harness on all the way. Just put his head in the collar, while he is eating his treat I can bring the material over and put the first wing through, put his second wing through. Give him another treat to keep him busy, and then while he is eating that, I can just tighten up the harness, like that. Good boy. Then, taking off the harness is also very important, but it's just the whole process in reverse. Almost done. Good boy. And, that's how you put your harness on a parrot, and now we are ready to go outside and have some fun.

Well, they're wrong. If you know what motivates your cat, you can train it. Now, training with Fria today is going to be a little difficult because she's pretty snooty, but I'm just going to see if she has a reaction to her favorite treat bag. That can be a great place to start for coming when called. Many cats know the sound of their treat bag and get excited right off the bat when they hear it. So, let's just see if she wakes up. Oh, suddenly we're interested. Well, it's not an ideal time to practice coming when called. It is a good time to reinforce the association that hearing the treat bag means good things. Now, many cat owners already know about the treat bag effect, but what they don't know is that it's really easy to capitalize on it to teach your cat to come when called. The way to do that is to pair your cat's name with a treat. The great news is since your cat knows the sound of a treat bag or a treat canister, you can build on an already strong association. So, in this case, you might say your cat's name and then give them a treat. So, I'll go like this. Fria and then I crinkle the bag which means a treat is coming and then I give her one. Now first, when you're starting this you want to start right by your cat because they don't really know what you're trying to do. Start at a place where cat and you are most likely to be successful. So, rinse and repeat. Fria, crinkle, crinkle and then give a treat. Now, when you're ready to start working on coming when called you can begin working from a distance. I'm not going to do this with Fria today because she might walk right off the table if she happened to get up, but what you would do is the same type of behavior. Say the cat's name, crinkle the bag and as soon as they come over give a treat. Eventually, the name that you give your cat for this exercise will become as powerful as the treat bag and you'll see that when you give the sound of your cat's name that your cat comes running for that treat. Over time you can stop using food and use scratches or other positive attention that your cat enjoys as a reinforcer. Just remember that it's not normal for cats to come when called in the wild, so it's definitely a behavior that's worth paying for. That's how you teach your cat to come when called.

What I have here is one from South America. They get about 10, 11 inches across. We always describe it as "as big a dinner plate." That's a formidable animal. The fangs are gigantic on this creature, and the venom that it can deliver is toxic, very, very bad venom. And it delivers a lot. Like all tarantulas, not a deadly venom, but a venom that's powerful. And there's a lot of it. It's going to be extremely painful, and you are not going to be happy if this tarantula gets a hold of you and bites you. So we're going to leave him in the box for today. But the thing we're most concerned about with this tarantula, and all the species from North and South America, is the way they defend themselves. They may rear up and show you their fangs and say, "Check this out." They may confront you and stand up on their hind legs almost and say, "Hey. Back up." But if they're really in danger, they actually turn around and use the other side of their body as a defense mechanism. And that would be this large round piece here, which of course is the abdomen on the tarantula. The abdomen is covered with hairs, the hardest word to say today, the urtocating hairs, which are on the back of a tarantula, which to me are just the irritating hairs. They'll take their hind legs and they'll flick those hairs. They'll chop them off the back. You can see this tarantula actually has a little bit of a bald spot on its abdomen, because it's so used to flicking those hairs whenever danger come around it. If those hairs get airborne, if you looked under a microscope, they have like little arrow tips on them. They stick into everything that they encounter. That's your eye, your skin, your nasal passages, your mouth. It irritates, and it's almost like having fiber glass in your face. Very, very irritating item. In the old day, they had a gag gift called itching powder in which they would mix talcum powder with those hairs from these types of tarantulas and deliver an irritating gag gift called itching powder. So we want to be very careful we don't disturb the animal too much. If you keep one of these, please be an advanced keeper. They can be picked up, but they are immediately going to flick those hairs. The hairs are going to come off its body naturally. They're going to get into your skin. They're going to get all over everything. Sometimes you look in the cage, it almost looks like it's hairy because the tarantula's kicked off so many hairs inside of his enclosure. It's a great animal to look at in a terrarium, or very heavily planted vivarium would be my way to do this. But it's not one you want to handle a lot or mess with at all. The Goliath bird-eater. Do they eat birds? There's another myth about the animal. I think when they found this animal it was on top of a bird carcass. But contrary to popular belief, their favorite food is not birds. They will eat small mammals for sure, but large insects make up the majority of its prey and its food. So the Goliath bird eater is an advanced keeper. You need a good sized cage for this animal, hiding spots, and a lot of plastic gloves to keep a Goliath bird eater. Good luck with that one.

So if you're experiencing any kind of lateral knee pain, any medial knee pain, we're gonna demonstrate today how to apply the foam roller to prevent that pain from coming on. So what you're gonna do is, if you're experiencing any kind of medial knee pain, that's like knee pain on the inner side, this is probably due to your tightness in you adductors and possibly in your groin area. So you're gonna roll your adductors and kind of take it from there. You're gonna start on the bottom of the adductor, which is the very top of the knee, and roll midway. Do this for about two minutes. And then go from the middle of the thigh, and this is again your adductor, to the very top of your groin. So that's for more medial knee pain. If you're experiencing knee pain more laterally, which is on the outside of the knee, what I recommend you do is definitely foam roll the peroneals. So the peroneals you're gonna do starting at the top of the knee rolling down toward the ankle. This is often responsible, the peroneals are responsible if they are tight for lateral knee pain. So kind of explore that area. And wherever you feel the tenderist spots, that's where you want to focus most of your attention on. When it comes to knee pain it can be any of these muscles around it. So I would then go to the quad. So what you want to do is start on the top of your knee. You could go on to your forearms and just explore your quadricep area. Take your time, it's a rather large muscle group. So you're gonna start on the very top of your knee, rolling midway. Doing this for about two minutes. Once that feels pretty good you're gonna take it from the middle and roll all the way up to the hip flexors. Most important thing is that wherever you find those tender areas that's where you want to focus your attention on. I'd say one to two minutes for each area, about ten rolls give or take each muscle, but if it hurts take your time. Spend more time on it. From there I would definitely say foam roll the IT band. It's not a muscle, it's a band, but it can be and often is responsible for knee pain. So take your time. One to two minutes. I'm rolling from the very top of my knee the middle of the ITB and then I'm gonna take it from the middle all the way to the top of the IT band. And that's it for the knee pain. Think of yourself as an investigator. You're going around, you're kind of peeking through and you're kinda trying to figure out where the pain is coming from. Take your time again. Focus on the areas that are most tender. That's how you foam roll to prevent knee pain.

How to Speak in Front of a Big Crowd | Public Speaking

Watch more Public Speaking Training videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/505059-How-to-Speak-in-Front-of-a-Big-Crowd-Public-Speaking How do you speak in front of a big crowd? You're in front of five hundred, or a thousand, or three thousand people. How do you do it? Here's the secret: it's no different than speaking to one person. Now, I understand it feels different. It feels scary. But here's the secret great speakers have. It doesn't matter if you love Ronald Reagan as a speaker, or Bill Clinton, or Tony Blair. All different speakers, different styles, different politics, but here's one thing they have in common. When they're speaking or were speaking to ten thousand people, or speaking to two people, they sounded exactly the same. So, here's the big secret when it comes to talking to large audiences: don't change yourself. Because most of us, when we're speaking to one friend or two buddies at lunch, we're animated. We're engaging, we're telling stories, and we're giving examples. Our hands are moving. Our face is moving. We get in front of a large audience, and all the things we do that worked for us, all the things that were interesting that made us easy to listen to, we take that, we ball it up, and we throw it in the trash can. And we put on this fake persona, my fellow delegates it's an honor to be here today. We become stiff and we become wooden. Our voice goes flat. We tense up. We grab a lectern. All these things we do because we're scared. The problem is, as much as I love crutches, these crutches don't prop us up. They bring us down. They make us worse. So, you've got to simply tell yourself you're talking to one person. You've got to use that tone of voice. Because these days if you're speaking to a large room of people chances are you're going to have a microphone, so you don't have to speak like this because that's really annoying. You speak in a conversational tone of voice. Here's the other trick: your eye contact. What a lot of people do is they're like this the whole time. They may be moving, but they have this glazed look in their eye. You don't want to do that. Or, they just zoom in here, zoom in here, and here. It's too mechanical. What you want to do is just look at one spot. Ideally, if you can see people, look at one person for a full thought. That's only five seconds or so. Go to another person in a different part of the audience. Pretend you're having a one on one conversation with that person for a full thought. And mix it up. That will make it more relaxing for you. You'll sound like you're talking to one person. And it'll keep your head from bouncing around and looking nervous and scared. The other final tip is, it's one of those things, the more you do it the easier it gets. Seek out opportunities to speak in front of large groups. Don't be one of these people that says, well I could speak to one person, or I can speak to two people, or I can speak sitting in a boardroom, but I'm not a public speaker so I can't. Baloney. If you've ever had one interesting conversation with one person in your entire life you already have all the skills you need to be a great public speaker in front of ten thousand people.

Best Muscles to Foam Roll for Runners | Foam Rolling

So if you're a runner, you're moving in mostly sagittal plane, you have a lot of hip flexion going on, your quads are going to be tight. So let's start out with the quads. So you're going to take the roller, place it on the very top of the knee, get down to your forearms here and foam roll to the middle of the thigh, or the quad, all the way back to the top of the knee. I would stay here for about a minute focusing on the areas that are the tightest. So wherever you feel the most tender spots, the points of the most pain, that's where you want to focus on and stay on. Once you're done there, you'll take it from the middle all the way up to the hips. I'm doing two at once; you can also do one leg at a time that would look like this. We bend one leg, focus on the left and then the right. This I actually feel more pressure with. So if you want a deeper penetration I would definitely recommend you roll one leg at a time. Focusing on each muscle for about two minutes. So after you're done with the quad, as a runner, your hips are going to be tight. So definitely foam roll the ITB. So you're going to start out on the side, like you're going to get into a side plane. You're going start on the very top of the knee. You can bend one leg and you're going to roll to the middle of your IT band all the way back down to the side of the knee. This is an intense muscle, so you want to take your time and by bending this leg you're taking some pressure off of the muscle or of the band by applying your body weight much more. You're kind of splitting your body weight. If you want more pressure, you could always just stack your legs like that and that will be pretty intense. But again, this is a pretty painful one to roll, so just take your time and break it up. So after you're done rolling the bottom portion, you're going to take it from the middle and roll to the top of the hip. Spending about one minute, or two minutes, on each portion. I'm breaking the band and the quads up because the femur is usually pretty long. So you want to break it up. That will also insure that your alignment stays right. So as a runner, you also want to make sure you're going to roll your abductors. So you're going to place the roller just like this, you're externally going to rotate your leg and you're going to lie down on the roller, if you could come down to your forearms and you're just going to roll to the middle of the thigh back to the bottom or the top of the knee. Just like that. And again, I'm splitting it up. I'm only rolling to the middle and to the top of the knee. One minute there, you're going to take the roller start in the middle and then you're going to roll all the way to the top of the groin. The abductor isn't often neglected muscle to foam roll but it's very tight on most runners so you definitely want to make sure you get it. So the last important muscle I would say for most of my runners to roll are your glutes. So you want to make sure you start out rolling the glute medius which is the outer portion of your butt. You could lean to one side. Go toward the middle, focusing more on your glute max, and then you would switch sides completely. And roll the right side, glute med. And then the middle which is the glute max. Spending again, one to two minutes on each muscle group. I would spend one to two minutes on the left and one to two minutes on the right. And those are the most effective muscles to roll if you're a runner.

Ann: Sure. Jason: All right, great. Go ahead and select any card that you'd like from the entire deck. Got it? Ann: Yes. Jason: Memorize it and show it to the camera. Perfect. Go ahead and just place it right there on top and all I want you to do is cut the deck in half. Perfect and just complete the cut. Great. So now your card is lost in the deck. I don't know where it is. You don't know where it is. I'm going to try to just kind of sense out your card but, it doesn't always work quite the way I want it to, it's not going to happen. But, you know what? What's in a name? But I'll tell you what; I think your card might be a little bit more apt to try and find itself. I know that probably sounds weird but just bear with me. Could you tell me what your card was? Ann: It was a ten of hearts. Jason: It was a ten of hearts? And that's the first time you've told me your card. I haven't seen it. You put it away in the deck? Ann: Yes. Jason: T-E-N H-E-A-R-T-S. No. You know what? It's your card. I wonder if, maybe this would work better for you. Would you give it a shot? Ann: Sure. T-E-N H-E-A-R-T. Jason: And flip it over for me. Ann: S. Crazy. Jason: What's in a name? So this is another spelling trick. It's a great little effect and here's how this one works. First thing I have to do is I have to find her card. Now the way I find her card is really simple, it's just a key card, right? I use the bottom card, the nine of clubs in this case so that when she selects her card I already know the bottom card. She selects a card, take whichever one you want. Right? Show it to the camera. Place it right on top. Cut the deck in half. And when she completes the cut the nine of clubs ends up right on top of her card. So all I have to do is as I'm trying to sense her card, going through the deck, I know that her card is always going to be right below the key card. All I do is cut it to the top. Now it's a matter of finding it through its name. So I have her telling me the name as if I don't know the card yet. What's the name of the card? Ann: It's a six of... Jason: A six of... Ann: Spades. Jason: Spades. A six of spades? Are you sure? Ann: Six of clubs. Jason: It's a six of clubs? Ann: Yes. Jason: Great. It's a six of clubs. Not that I know. So what's your card again? Ann: Six of clubs. Jason: Perfect. S-I-X C-L-U-B and S. And of course I know that's not it. But, by putting it right back on and actually placing the cards that I've just laid out here back on top of the deck, remember because I've been dealing them into a pile they're now in reversed order, her card is actually at the bottom of the pile because it was originally on top. So I place it right back on so now all I have to do is justify her spelling out the card. And I do that just by reminding her; well of course I'm not going to be able to find your card. It's your card. It's bound to you. So why don't you try? We'll use a little bit of magic right? And all I want you to do is spell out your card. S-I-X C-L-U-B and S.

Whenever I think of pinched harmonics the first person I think of is Billy Gibbons the guitarist for ZZ Top. A lot of other great players have made nice use of pinched harmonics as well. One of the things to keep in mind is that there are harmonics five, seven, and twelve frets away from every note as well as in other positions. For more details, I did do another Howcast lesson on harmonics, so you should check that out. Let's look at the position of the second fret, F sharp minor. My clearest harmonics here are twelve frets away. That's the fourteenth fret. So, just for demonstration, I'm going to use my first finger and I'm going to pick each harmonic. If I were to tap those it would sound like this. Okay. So, these aren't good for pinched harmonics because it's very hard to pick up here. What I want to do is go twelve frets higher, right. One two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve. Now, here I start to run out of room. So, I have to use the pick-up or the body of the guitar to memorize where I am. Now, using pinching technique I can find the harmonics. So, I'm just picking the note. As I pick the note my thumb is supposed to go over the harmonic. Now, I have to find this. No. There we go. Okay. So this is easy to remember because on this guitar it's pretty much right in the line of the pick-up. On another guitar it might be above the screw of the pick-up, and it's going to be in a different place for each key. A big part of this is memorizing where the harmonics are on the guitar. But since I know where the main harmonic is for F sharp I can figure out where the rest of the notes are. Alright, it's rough, but basically that's this pentatonic and harmonics. When playing pinched harmonics it really helps to be on the treble pick-up. It helps to have a lot of distortion, too. I can continue through the scale and play harmonics. Okay. Having mapped out the harmonics I can now play some licks and just throw in pinched harmonics here and there. Check it out. So, with pinched harmonics you sort of have to guess where they are. You're not going to nail them every time, but when you do nail them they sound cool. I hope you've enjoyed this lesson on pinched harmonics.
