The History of Malaria, an Ancient Disease

02:45
The History of Malaria, an Ancient Disease : Malaria or a disease resembling malaria has been noted for more than 4,000 years. From the Italian for "bad air," mal'aria has probably influenced to a great extent human populations and human history. Ancient History (2700 BCE-340 CE) The symptoms of malaria were described in ancient Chinese medical writings. In 2700 BC, several characteristic symptoms of what would later be named malaria were described in the Nei Ching, The Canon of Medicine). Nei Ching was edited by Emperor Huang Ti. Malaria became widely recognized in Greece by the 4th century BCE, and it was responsible for the decline of many of the city-state populations. Hippocrates noted the principal symptoms. By the age of Pericles, there were extensive references to malaria in the literature and depopulation of rural areas was recorded. In the Susruta, a Sanskrit medical treatise, the symptoms of malarial fever were described and attributed to the bites of certain insects. A number of Roman writers attributed malarial diseases to the swamps. In China, during the second century BCE, the Qinghao plant (Artemisia annua) was described in the medical treatise, 52 Remedies, found in the Mawangdui Tomb. In the United States, this plant is known as the annual or sweet wormwood. In 340 CE, the antifever properties of Qinghao were first described by Ge Hong of the East Yin Dynasty. The active ingredient of Qinghao, known as artemisinin, was isolated by Chinese scientists in 1971. Derivatives of this extract, known collectively as artemisinins, are today very potent and effective antimalarial drugs, especially in combination with other medicines. The Respiratory System of Premature Infants Respiratory Distress Syndrome. ... A baby develops RDS when the lungs do not produce sufficient amounts of surfactant. This is a substance that keeps the tiny air sacs in the lung open. As a result, a premature baby often has difficulty expanding her lungs, taking in oxygen, and getting rid of carbon dioxide. Respiratory Distress Syndrome The most common lung problem in a premature baby is respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). This was previously known as hyaline membrane disease (HMD). A baby develops RDS when the lungs do not produce sufficient amounts of surfactant. This is a substance that keeps the tiny air sacs in the lung open. As a result, a premature baby often has difficulty expanding her lungs, taking in oxygen, and getting rid of carbon dioxide. On a chest X-ray, the lungs of a baby with RDS look like ground glass. RDS is common in premature babies. That’s because the lungs do not usually begin producing surfactant until about the 30th week of pregnancy. Other factors that increase a baby's risk of developing RDS include: Caucasian race male sex family history maternal diabetes RDS tends to be less severe in babies whose mothers received steroid treatment before delivery. Fortunately, surfactant is now artificially produced and can be given to babies if doctors suspect they are not yet making surfactant on their own. Most of these babies also need extra oxygen and support from a ventilator. Ebola Virus Symptoms, Treatment, and Prevention

Ebola Virus Symptoms, Treatment, and Prevention : (chocmoose.com) and co-produced by United Methodists Communications (umcom.org), Iheed (iheed.org) Ebola is a rare but deadly virus that causes bleeding inside and outside the body. As the virus spreads through the body, it damages the immune system and organs. Ultimately, it causes levels of blood-clotting cells to drop. This leads to severe, uncontrollable bleeding. The disease, also known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever or Ebola virus, kills up to 90% of people who are infected. How Do You Get Ebola? Ebola isn’t as contagious as more common viruses like colds, influenza, or measles. It spreads to people by contact with the skin or bodily fluids of an infected animal, like a monkey, chimp, or fruit bat. Then it moves from person to person the same way. Those who care for a sick person or bury someone who has died from the disease often get it. The race is on to find ways to prevent and cure the Ebola virus - a disease that has killed more than 10,000 people in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia. There are no proven treatments for Ebola or vaccines to prevent individuals becoming infected. However, progress is now being made on an unprecedented scale. Trials, which would normally take years and decades, are being fast-tracked on a timescale of weeks and months. Copyright © 2004-2015 Taj Pharmaceuticals Limited. All rights reserved. Living With High Blood Pressure

03:31
Living With High Blood Pressure : If you have high blood pressure (HBP), you'll need to treat and control it for life. This means making lifestyle changes, taking prescribed medicines, and getting ongoing medical care. Treatment can help control blood pressure, but it will not cure HBP. If you stop treatment, your blood pressure and risk for related health problems will rise. For a healthy future, follow your treatment plan closely. Work with your health care team for lifelong blood pressure control. Lifestyle Changes Making healthy lifestyle changes can help control HBP. A healthy lifestyle includes following a healthy diet, being physically active, maintaining a healthy weight, and not smoking. (For more information, go to "How Is High Blood Pressure Treated?") Medicines Take all blood pressure medicines that your doctor prescribes. Know the names and doses of your medicines and how to take them. If you have questions about your medicines, talk with your doctor or pharmacist. Make sure you refill your medicines before they run out. Take your medicines exactly as your doctor directs—don't skip days or cut pills in half. If you're having side effects from your medicines, talk with your doctor. He or she may need to adjust the doses or prescribe other medicines. You shouldn't decide on your own to stop taking your medicines. Ongoing Care If you have HBP, have medical checkups or tests as your doctor advises. Your doctor may need to change or add medicines to your treatment plan over time. Routine checkups allow your doctor to change your treatment right away if your blood pressure goes up again. Keeping track of your blood pressure is important. Have your blood pressure checked on the schedule your doctor advises.

Bavituximab : An Experimental Immuno Oncology Immunotherapy Against Cancer

03:36
Bavituximab ,An Experimental Immuno-Oncology Immunotherapy Against Cancer : Bavituximab is a first-in-class phosphatidylserine (PS)-targeting monoclonal antibody that represents a new approach to treating cancer. PS is a highly immunosuppressive molecule usually located inside the membrane of healthy cells, but "flips" and becomes exposed on the outside of cells that line tumor blood vessels, creating a specific target for anti-cancer treatments. PS-targeting antibodies target and bind to PS and block this immunosuppressive signal, thereby enabling the immune system to recognize and fight the tumor. These data detailing the immune-stimulatory mechanism of action of PS-targeting antibodies, such as the company's lead drug candidate bavituximab, are the subject of a manuscript published in the October 2013 issue of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) peer-reviewed journal, Cancer Immunology Research . Bavituximab is currently being evaluated in several solid tumor indications, including non-small cell lung cancer, breast cancer, liver cancer and rectal cancer with a trial in advanced melanoma anticipated to initiate in the near future. Encephalitis " Brain fever , Learn About Causes and Symptoms (A HINDI STORY) India : Encephalitis is an acute infection and inflammation of the brain itself. See about causes, symptoms, and treatment. Encephalitis is acute inflammation (swelling up) of the brain resulting either from a viral infection or when the body's own immune system mistakenly attacks brain tissue. The most common cause is a viral infection. In medicine acute means it comes on abruptly; of abrupt onset, develops rapidly, and usually requires urgent care. Encephalitis occurs in 1 in every 1,000 cases of measles.** Encephalitis can be life-threatening, but this is very rare. / The brain swells (becomes inflamed) as a result of the body's attempt to fight off the infections. The Genetic's of Alzheimer's

03:23
The Genetic's of Alzheimer's The Genetics of Disease Some diseases are caused by a genetic mutation, or permanent change in one or more specific genes. If a person inherits from a parent a genetic mutation that causes a certain disease, then he or she will usually get the disease. Sickle cell anemia, cystic fibrosis, and early-onset familial Alzheimer's disease are examples of inherited genetic disorders. In other diseases, a genetic variant may occur. This change in a gene can sometimes cause a disease directly. More often, it acts to increase or decrease a person's risk of developing a disease or condition. When a genetic variant increases disease risk but does not directly cause a disease, it is called a genetic risk factor. Alzheimer’s Disease Genetics Alzheimer's disease is an irreversible, progressive brain disease. It is characterized by the development of amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles, the loss of connections between nerve cells, or neurons, in the brain, and the death of these nerve cells. There are two types of Alzheimer's—early-onset and late-onset. Both types have a genetic component. How do people inherit Alzheimer disease? The early-onset form of Alzheimer disease is inherited in an autosomal dominant pattern, which means one copy of the altered gene in each cell is sufficient to cause the disorder. In most cases, an affected person inherits the altered gene from one affected parent. The inheritance pattern of late-onset Alzheimer disease is uncertain. People who inherit one copy of the APOE e4 allele have an increased chance of developing the disease; those who inherit two copies of the allele are at even greater risk. It is important to note that people with the APOE e4 allele inherit an increased risk of developing Alzheimer disease, not the disease itself. Not all people with Alzheimer disease have the e4 allele, and not all people who have the e4 allele will develop the disease. Child Abuse Awareness

01:48
Child Abuse Awareness The WHO estimates that 150 million girls and 73 million boys under 18 have experienced forced sexual intercourse or other forms of sexual violence involving physical contact, though this is certainly an underestimate. Much of this sexual violence is inflicted by family members or other people residing in or visiting a child's family home- people normally trusted by children and often responsible for their care. In India, 53.22% reported having faced one or more forms of sexual abuse that included severe and other forms. Among them 52.94% were boys and 47.06% girls. The age wise distribution of children reporting sexual abuse in one or more forms showed that though the abuse started at the age of 5 years, it gained momentum 10 years onward, peaking at 12 to 15 years and then starting to decline. This study on Child Abuse: India 2007 means that children in the teenage years are most vulnerable. In many places, adults are outspoken about the risk of sexual violence their children faced at school or at play in the community, but rarely did adults speak of children's risk of sexual abuse within the home and family context. The shame, secrecy and denial associated with familial sexual violence against children foster a pervasive culture of silence, where children cannot speak about sexual violence in the home, and where adults do not know what to do or say if they suspect someone they know is sexually abusing a child. Diarrhea: Why It Happens and How to Treat It

02:25
Diarrhea: Why It Happens and How to Treat It Diarrhea is characterized by loose, watery stools or a frequent need to have a bowel movement. It usually lasts a few days and often disappears without any treatment. Diarrhea can be acute or chronic. Acute diarrhea occurs when the condition lasts for one to two days. You might experience diarrhea as a result of a viral or bacterial infection. Other times, it could be due to food poisoning. There’s even a condition known as traveler’s diarrhea, which happens when you have diarrhea after being exposed to bacteria or parasites while on vacation in a developing nation. Acute diarrhea is fairly common. Chronic diarrhea refers to diarrhea that lasts for at least four weeks. It’s usually the result of an intestinal disease or disorder, such as celiac disease or Crohn’s disease. What causes diarrhea? You may experience diarrhea as a result of a number of conditions or circumstances. Potential causes of diarrhea include: a food intolerance, such as lactose intolerance a food allergy an adverse reaction to a medication a viral infection a bacterial infection an intestinal disease a parasitic infection gallbladder or stomach surgery A person with diarrhea has loose or watery stool. Inflammation of the intestines causes water and mucus to leak from the intestinal lining. When this occurs, food and fluid pass through the intestines very quickly. The most common cause of diarrhea is an infection, called gastroenteritis. Diarrhea due to gastroenteritis can be caused by infection with bacteria, viruses, or parasites. Additional causes for diarrhea include food allergies, intestinal malabsorption, and drug side effects. Diarrhea Symptoms Symptoms depend on the underlying cause of the diarrhea. The stool may be bloody or contain green or yellow mucus. Symptoms that commonly occur with diarrhea include nausea, vomiting, fever, abdominal pain, and muscle weakness. Loss of fluids due to diarrhea may cause symptoms of dehydration. Diarrhea Treatment The treatment for diarrhea depends on the underlying cause. Treatment for diarrhea includes plenty of fluids and a clear liquid diet. Additional treatment for diarrhea may include antibiotics, medications to control nausea and vomiting, and medications that reduce intestinal spasms. Severe dehydration caused by diarrhea may require treatment with intravenous fluids. Diabetes: Don't Let It Kill You

Diabetes: Don't Let It Kill You For three decades, millions of people invited him into their homes as he broadcast Atlanta Braves baseball to the world. Skip Caray called the plays, told stories, and was like an uncle who showed up day after day to make us smile. Skip Caray died from the complications of diabetes. One of the ways Diabetes can kill is caused by sugar. The Body basically stops or seriously lacks insulin needed to bring sugar (in form of glucose) around your body, so they can be either used or stored in forms of fat. If they are not used due to Insulin not delivering them around the body, they will travel through (or float through) blood veins and arteries etc. If they meet up with each other they can clog up the blood veins like the same way that fat can. Causing entire limbs to be stopped from being supplied with blood which means no oxygen (from hemoglobin in the blood, which is the main function for the blood veins etc) for the area, which can cause the entire limb to be blue and eventually get necrosis (or quite literally start rotting). Poverty Cure, How To Intelligently Cure Poverty

07:44
Poverty Cure, How To Intelligently Cure Poverty : We will always have the poor among us (Matthew 26:11), but over a billion living on less than $1 a day? It is natural for well-meaning individuals to work to change this situation. Intellectual entrepreneurs are no exception and endeavor to apply the best ideas to poverty alleviation. A new multifaceted initiative, called PovertyCure, provides abundant materials and resources for those who want to createlasting solutions to poverty. The program is founded on the conviction that each human person can be a source of great creativity. It highlights the incentives needed to unleash the entrepreneurial spirit that fills the developing world. When Adam Smith wrote his famous “Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations,” he helped shift the terms of the discussion. Centuries earlier, work focused on different aspects of poverty. Jurists and city authorities analyzed whether the poor should be allowed to beg freely and move to other cities. Charities were set up to help the destitute. The great Florentine Saint, Antonino Pierozzi (1389-1459), even set up a charity to serve the “shameful poor” (poveri vergognosi). These were formerly rich people who were impoverished by government attacks and injustices, but who would prefer to die rather than beg. It is easy to be poor; it is harder to understand how wealth is created. Smith changed the approach. What is HPV (human papilloma virus) Control and Prevention

02:39
What is HPV (human papilloma virus) Control and Prevention : HPV, or Human Papilloma Virus, is a virus from the papillomavirus family that affects human skin and the moist membranes that line the body, such as the throat, mouth, feet, fingers, nails, anus and cervix. There are over 100 types, of which 40 can affect the genital area. Most known HPV types cause no symptoms to humans. Some, however, can cause verrucae (warts), while a small number can increase the risk of developing several cancers, such as that of the cervix, penis, vagina, anus and oropharynx (oral part of the pharynx - throat cancer). According to recent studies, HPV infection can also raise cardiovascular disease risk. The HPV 16 and 18 strains, which are known to cause nearly all cases of cervical cancer, also raise the risk of developing oropharyngeal (throat) cancer. According to a study published in JAMA in January 2012, men are more susceptible to oral HPV infections than women. HPV Genital Infection Genital human papillomavirus is the most common STI (sexually transmitted infection), according to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), USA. The over 40 types that can infect the genital areas, can affect males and females - they can also infect the throat and mouth. The majority of HPV infected people are unaware, because they have no signs or symptoms. Most HPV infections in young females are temporary, but not all.. In the majority of cases, infected young females are not infected for long and there is no long-term consequence. The CDC says that over 70% of young female infections clear up within 12 months, while 90% do so within 24 months. However, in between 5% to 10% of cases, the infection persists. Persistent long-term HPV infection raises the risk of developing precancerous lesions of the cervix - these can eventually, over a period of five to ten years, develop into cervical cancer. During this period, the progress can be treated and reversed with treatment for the pre-cancerous lesions. In some cases, treatment can lead to loss of fertility. However, in the majority of cases, cancer can be prevented. #HPV #HumanPapillomaVirus

Antibiotic Medicine Tablets and Injection Taj Pharma

13:34
# Antibiotic Medicine - Tablets and Injection For more details please visit: www.tajpharma.com Antibiotics are a group of medicines that are used to treat infections caused by some germs (bacteria and certain parasites). They do not work against infections that are caused by viruses - for example, the common cold or flu. Antibiotics are normally only prescribed for more serious bacterial infections, as many infections get better on their own. Correct use of antibiotics is absolutely essential to help reduce antibiotic resistance. Germs become resistant to antibiotics over time, which then makes them less effective. The World Health Organization (WHO) says "the world urgently needs to change the way it prescribes and uses antibiotics" as antibiotic resistance is a major global threat. What are antibiotics? Antibiotics are a group of medicines that are used to treat infections. Antibiotics are sometimes called antibacterials or antimicrobials. Antibiotics can be taken by mouth as liquids, tablets, or capsules, or they can be given by injection. Usually, people who need to have an antibiotic by injection are in hospital because they have a severe infection. Antibiotics are also available as creams, ointments, or lotions to apply to the skin to treat certain skin infections. It is important to remember that antibiotics only work against infections that are caused by bacteria and certain parasites. A parasite is a type of germ that needs to live on or in another living being (host). Antibiotics do not work against infections that are caused by viruses (for example, the common cold or flu), or fungi (for example, thrush in the mouth or vagina), or fungal infections of the skin. See the separate leaflet called Microbes, Germs and Antibiotics to read more about the different types of germs which can cause infections. Occasionally, a viral infection or minor bacterial infection develops into a more serious secondary bacterial infection. In this case, antibiotics would be needed. There are various antibiotics available and they come in various different brand names. Antibiotics are usually grouped together based on how they work. Each type of antibiotic only works against certain types of bacteria or parasites. This is why different antibiotics are used to treat different types of infection. The main types of antibiotics include: Penicillins - for example, phenoxymethylpenicillin, flucloxacillin and amoxicillin. Cephalosporins - for example, cefaclor, cefadroxil and cefalexin. Tetracyclines - for example, tetracycline, doxycycline and lymecycline. Aminoglycosides - for example, gentamicin and tobramycin. Macrolides - for example, erythromycin, azithromycin and clarithromycin. Clindamycin. Sulfonamides and trimethoprim - for example, co-trimoxazole. Metronidazole and tinidazole. Quinolones - for example, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin and norfloxacin. Nitrofurantoin - used for urinary infections. As well as the above main types of antibiotics, there are a number of other antibiotics that specialist doctors or hospital doctors may prescribe for more uncommon infections such as tuberculosis (TB). The rest of this leaflet only discusses antibiotics that your GP may prescribe "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Child Poverty Worldwide (a Focus on Children)

Child Poverty Worldwide (a Focus on Children) Nearly 385 million children living in extreme poverty, Extreme poverty, measured at $1.90 per person per day, disproportionately affects children – 387 million, or 19.5% of the world's children live in extreme poverty compared to just 9.2% of adults. Children represent half of the poor ... Globally, almost 385 million children were living in extreme poverty Children are more than twice as likely as adults to live in extreme poverty, with nearly 385 million children worldwide experiencing that condition, according to a new analysis from the World Bank Group and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). Children resulting from unintended pregnancies are more likely to live in poverty; raising a child requires significant resources, so each additional child increases demands on parental resources. Families raised by a single parent are generally poorer than those raised by couples. Children bear the brunt of poverty The new Sustainable Development Goals now recognize that children are a priority in the fight against poverty – the elimination of poverty by 2030 is the first goal of the SDGs. Extreme poverty, measured at $1.90 per person per day, disproportionately affects children – 387 million, or 19.5% of the world’s children live in extreme poverty compared to just 9.2% of adults. Children represent half of the poor yet are just one third of the underlying population. This briefing note from the World Bank Group and UNICEF reports that children in developing countries are more than twice as likely as adults to live in extreme poverty. In 2013, 19.5 per cent of children in were living in households that survived on an average of US$1.90 a day per person or less, compared to just 9.2 per cent of adults. Globally, almost 385 million children were living in extreme poverty. Taj Pharmaceuticals Effervescent Dosage Manufacturing India (Taj Pharma Unit IX}

03:17
Taj Pharma Effervescent Dosage Manufacturing Taj Pharmaceuticals Effervescent tablets are an interesting pharmaceutical dosage form, Taj Pharmaceuticals offering some unique advantages when compared with simple tablets. However, the manufacturing process involves some critical steps that need to be addressed carefully during formulation and factory design. Oral dosage forms are the most popular way of taking medication, despite having some disadvantages compared with other methods. One such disadvantage is the risk of slow absorption of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API), which can be overcome by administering the drug in liquid form and, therefore, possibly allowing the use of a lower dosage. However, because many APIs only show a limited level of stability in liquid form, effervescent tablets, which are dissolved in water before administration, have been formulated as an alternative dosage form. Advantages of effervescent tablets compared with other oral dosage forms include: an opportunity for formulators to improve the taste; a more gentle action on a patient's stomach; marketing aspects (fizzy tablets may have more consumer appeal than traditional dosage forms). The disadvantages of effervescent dosage forms are the need for larger tablets, a complex production process and, very often, the need for specialist packaging materials. Fundamentals of effervescents Effervescents consist of a soluble organic acid and an alkali metal carbonate salt, one of which is often the API. Carbon dioxide is formed if this mixture comes into contact with water. Typical examples of the acids and alkalis used include: citric acid tartaric acid malic acid fumaric acid adipic acid sodium bicarbonate sodium carbonate sodium sesquicarbonate potassium bicarbonate potassium carbonate Production Producing effervescent tablets requires a conventional solid dosage form manufacturing process that has been adapted to include additional features because of the unique characteristics of the product. Material handling. The primary material used in the manufacture of effervescents is relatively hygroscopic, that is, it absorbs moisture from the air. However, this must be prevented because it will initiate the effervescent reaction. One of the principle strategies used to overcome this problem is a completely closed material handling system, which includes intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), docking stations and split valve technology (Figure 1). In addition, the ventilating air must contain a sufficiently low moisture content. This method is particularly useful if potent actives are handled that require a high level of operator protection. The alternative is the open handling of a product, which allows the use of standard equipment - although the ventilating air must still contain minimum moisture levels. Granulation and drying Because most tablets are compressed by high speed rotary tablet presses, the material fed into the presses has to have properties that prevent segregation and ensure homogeneous filling of the dies, to produce tablets of equal weight. The most common approach to achieving materials with these characteristics is to granulate the raw materials. Because wet granulation will initiate the effervescent reaction, several alternatives have been established. Dry methods. Dry methods, such as slugging, direct compression and roller compaction are regularly used to produce solid dosage forms.2 These are the preferred methods of producing effervescents because no liquid is involved, which means that no additional drying step is required. Another advantage is the reduced need for equipment because of the limited number of unit operations required and, as a consequence, ventilation of the machinery and/or the facility can be simplified. Indeed, the roller compaction method, if properly automated, can lead to very high throughput. However, the main argument against the use of dry methods is the need for expensive excipients. Wet granulation. For the wet granulation process, two separate granulation steps are run (one each for the alkaline and the acid components) with a subsequent dry blending step. This can be done in a high shear granulator (with subsequent drying), a single pot or in a fluid bed spray granulator.2 The advantage of this method is that only conventional equipment is needed, which could also be used for granulating and drying other materials. The major disadvantages are the running time required and the cleaning, particularly if two parallel lines are not available for the two granulations. The blending process can be a critical step and may affect the homogeneity of the tablets because not all the materials are bonded into one granule as in a conventional wet granulation process. #Effervescent #Pharmaceutical manufacturing #TajPharma #GenericMedicines

Advances in Chronic Kidney Disease (ACKD) : http://www.tharolax.com/ A person with stage 4 chronic kidney disease (CKD) has advanced kidney damage with a severe decrease in the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) to 15-30 ml/min. It is likely someone with stage 4 CKD will need dialysis or a kidney transplant in the near future. As kidney function declines, waste products build up in the blood causing a condition known as uremia. In stage 4, a person is likely to develop complications of kidney disease such as high blood pressure, anemia (a shortage of red blood cells), bone disease, heart disease and other cardiovascular diseases. Life is calling (Separating hope from hype in new cancer therapy 'revolution')

02:51
Life is calling (Separating hope from hype in new cancer therapy 'revolution') Research and Development in the Disease Area of Oncology aims to provide effective cancer therapies through the discovery and development of novel therapeutics that target the specific molecular pathways associated with cancer. Our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of tumor development and how tumors spread has continually improved. This helps our scientists to target the processes that lead to cancer. This is an area where biopharmaceuticals, and especially highly specific antibodies, play an important role. Our goal is to use modern technologies to make these biopharmaceuticals even more effective in the future. Precise diagnosis – The key to successful treatment Precise diagnosis is the key to successful treatment. Biomarkers, i.e. components of our body cells that can be used as indicators for the disease, will enable doctors to determine which cancer type a patient has much more quickly and specifically. Things you may not know about cancer Interesting facts about the world’s biggest health challenge The word ‘cancer’ comes from the Latin for ‘crab’ – just like the zodiac sign Early doctors, when describing certain tumours which had veins or extensions from the main body, called them crab-like, or ‘cancerous’.v Cancer was first described by the ancient Egyptians The earliest description of cancer was found in the Edwin Smith Papyrus dating back to 1600 B.C. The document describes breast tumours removed by a tool called the fire drill. However, it states that "there is no treatment". There are more skin cancer cases due to indoor tanning than lung cancer cases due to smoking A recent study showed there are more than 419,000 new skin cancer cases attributable to indoor tanning each year in the US alone. More than half of all cancers are preventable Researchers believe that over half of all cancer cases – and up to half of all cancer deaths – are preventable. This means there are between 2.4 million and 3.7 million avoidable deaths per year, 80% of which occur in low- and middle-income countries. Our mission is to discover new ways to improve and extend people's lives. Cancer is a growing worldwide epidemic, with staggering statistics: 20,000 people dying of cancer every day; 1 person out of 3 will be faced with cancer at one point in their life; and 1 million Americans are diagnosed with cancer every year. Over the last 100 years dozens of doctors, scientists and researchers have come up with the most diverse, apparently effective solutions against the disease we know as cancer, but none of these were ever taken into serious consideration by official medicine. The majority of them were in fact rejected up-front, even though healings were claimed in the thousands, their proposers often being labeled as charlatans, ostracized by the medical community and ultimately forced to even leave the country. At the same time One in Three Women and One in Two Men will be affected by this disease, without official medicine being able to offer a true sense of hope to those affected by it. Which Begs the Question, Why? Big Business!! Have you or someone you know been affected by cancer? What if I told you that there's a Powerful All Natural Product available that has been clinically tested and PROVEN by Wake Forest University Medical Sciences, that has been shown to inhibit the growth of 7 types of cancer (to include Triple Negative Breast Cancer) up to 92.6%, And is the Only company to do Human Clinical Trials!! - Brain – 90.2% - Breast – 92.6% - Colon – 80.5% - Lung – 81.8% - Prostate – 80.4% - Skin – 60.9% - Leukemia – 74.2% I have followed the copyright law correctly, its non-profit and the songs are credited." or " Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Taj Pharma “Light up a Life this Diwali 2018 Today’s the ‘Festival of Lights’ all o’er; A joyful day for minds and hearts and souls; And people throng the Temples to offer, Prayers, resolving to take better roles. And most of them are richly clad and clean, And eat such dainty foods and sweets with mirth; Whilst noisy crackers burst, their lights are seen, It seems to be a happy day on Earth! But are there not hearts woe-filled, very sad? Denied of laughter, smiles for days; Today’s the triumph of Good over bad; But what about the wastage in much ways? True joy is when you see someone else smile! True charity gives joy in Heav’nly style. Could There Be a Cure for Diabetes

05:39
Could There Be a Cure for Diabetes : With all the research on diabetes and advances in diabetes treatments, it's tempting to think someone has surely found a diabetes cure by now. But the reality is that there is no cure for diabetes -- neither type 1 diabetes nor type 2 diabetes. However, there are treatments, including simple things you can do daily, that make a big difference. Is there a natural therapy that can cure diabetes? No. Natural therapies such as deep abdominal breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, guided imagery, and biofeedback can help relieve stress. And emotional stress affects your blood sugar levels. So learning to relax is important in managing your diabetes. Supplements don't cure diabetes, either. Some natural supplements may interact dangerously with your diabetes medication. Others have been shown to help improve your diabetes, but always check with your doctor before taking any supplement. Be skeptical about claims of a diabetes cure. A genuine cure will have been tested repeatedly in clinical trials with clear success. What lifestyle changes can help me manage my diabetes? Even though there's no diabetes cure, diabetes can be treated and controlled, and some people may go into remission. To manage diabetes effectively, you need to do the following: Manage your blood sugar levels. Know what to do to help keep them as near to normal as possible every day: Check your glucose levels frequently. Take your diabetes medicine regularly. And balance your food intake with medication, exercise, stress management, and good sleep habits. Plan what you eat at each meal. Stick to your diabetes eating plan as often as possible. Bring healthy snacks with you. You’ll be less likely to snack on empty calories. Exercise regularly. Exercise helps you keep you fit, burns calories, and helps normalize your blood glucose levels. Keep up with your medical appointments. That includes your doctor, diabetes educator, ophthalmologist, dentist, podiatrist, and other health care professionals. What is Alzheimer's disease ? : The Cure

02:08
What is Alzheimer's disease- The Cure : What is Alzheimer's disease- The Cure Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia. The word dementia describes a set of symptoms that can include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. These symptoms occur when the brain is damaged by certain diseases, including Alzheimer's disease. This factsheet describes the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease, how it is diagnosed, and the factors that can put someone at risk of developing it. It also describes the treatments and support that are currently available. Alzheimer's disease, named after the doctor who first described it (Alois Alzheimer), is a physical disease that affects the brain. There are more than 520,000 people in the UK with Alzheimer's disease. During the course of the disease, proteins build up in the brain to form structures called 'plaques' and 'tangles'. This leads to the loss of connections between nerve cells, and eventually to the death of nerve cells and loss of brain tissue. People with Alzheimer's also have a shortage of some important chemicals in their brain. These chemical messengers help to transmit signals around the brain. When there is a shortage of them, the signals are not transmitted as effectively. As discussed below, current treatments for Alzheimer's disease can help boost the levels of chemical messengers in the brain, which can help with some of the symptoms. Alzheimer's is a progressive disease. This means that gradually, over time, more parts of the brain are damaged. As this happens, more symptoms develop. They also become more severe. Indian Monsoon : India’s Epic Monsoon Season

02:15
# Indian Monsoon:India’s Epic Monsoon Season The main monsoon season in India runs from June to September and the question on everyone’s lips is always, “What's it really like and is travel still possible?” This is very understandable as the thought of rain and floods is enough to put a dampener on any holiday. However, the good news is that you don’t have to let the monsoon ruin your travel plans, and travel can even be advantageous during this time. Here's all you need to know about India during the monsoon, as well as where to travel to avoid the rain. What Causes the Monsoon in India The monsoon is caused by differing temperature trends over the land and ocean. In India, the southwest summer monsoon is attracted by a low pressure area that's caused by the extreme heat of the Thar Desert and adjoining areas, during summer. During the monsoon, the wind direction reverses. Moisture-laden winds from the Indian Ocean come to fill up the void, but because they can't pass through the Himalaya region, they're forced to rise. The gain in altitude of the clouds results in a drop in temperature, bringing about rain. When the southwest monsoon reaches India, it splits into two parts around the mountainous region of the Western Ghats in south-central India. One part moves northwards over the Arabian Sea and up the coastal side of the Western Ghats. The other flows over the Bay of Bengal, up through Assam, and hits the Eastern Himalaya range. What can be Expected During the Monsoon in India The southwest monsoon reaches the coast of the southern state of Kerala around June 1. It usually arrives in Mumbai approximately 10 days later, reaches Delhi by the end of June, and covers the rest of India by mid-July. Every year, the date of the monsoon's arrival is the subject of much speculation. Despite numerous predictions by the meteorological department, it's rare that anyone gets it right though!
