Raymond Tallis on consciousness, the self and the brain
"I am very worried that we are misunderstanding what it is to be a human being" he told The Information Daily's reporter Eva Quigley at Thinktank the Birmingham Science Museum where he had just given the Lunar Society's 10th Annual Lecture 2013. Following an unsuccessful three year search for a manufacturer to supply what they needed, the NHS Blood Transfusion group put out a call for designers to pitch new ideas for blood donor chairs. The brief asked for something that would improve the overall blood giving service, making the donor experience more comfortable in the process. After listening to the needs of the NHS - and subsequently winning a national design competition - the Renfrew Group was commissioned to design and produce 1000 new chairs. The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) in conjunction with the Department of Health have released the updated version of the PPRS, due to come into effect as of 1 January 2014. The Pharmaceutical Price Regulation Scheme (PPRS) has been in existence for about fifty years, however it is re-negotiated every five years. The ABPI is the statutory body who represent all of the industry in those negotiations.
